I find the challenges are becoming more and more dificullt to set up shots for. Sometimes I feel I am pouring all me free time into a photo and this is not a bad thing but, maybe some more challenges linked to nature and beauty inteead of for exsample "illusions". Dose anyone else feel this way? By the way my dog has been doing some excelent posing for my photo attempts but even he is feeling the heat of the last few challenges.

dont forget that these challenges are not only about nice landscapes and beauty, they are also about producing the best photos for the challenges, which may not be landscapes or nature or pretty, personally i prefer this type of challenge because i can produce some surreal photographs. I think you share the thoughts of many people here because it is usually the most beautiful photo that wins whereas the photos that are rather surreal and not beautiful are voted near the bottom even though they may meet the challenge more than the winning photo. I can understand your feelings but by expanding your horizons by these challenges will introduce you to new methods and techniques in producing better photos. I know it has for me

I agree. It is great to particpate and it is not always possible as the DP Challenge is not the only objective in my life - work tends to get in the way of my photo fun. It would be nice to intermix a challenge or two that allowed for easier participation. Illusion is a very difficult subject. It will demand more time than is available, so it excludes me. If I were retired, it would be different, but I am not. A blended approach to both hard and easy topics would be better. Do you agree?

My take is that I would like to participate in every single weekly challenge but occasionally, that's just not possible, whether for personal reasons or lack of interest in the topic, or difficulty.

At times like these, I a) wish everyone else that does enter enjoy themselves, and b) tell myself that there is always next week! :)

Maybe beginning next year the challenge could change to a new challenge every two weeks and also change categories to easier ones. Who says we can't do nature or landscapes more than once. The changing of the seasons makes for great pictures all year 'round. Still life could also be a category done more than once.

Or even better, have two challenges going at the same time, but you could only enter one. That way you can have easier subjects like nature, still life, landscapes, outdoors, etc. always on one of the challenges and the other more open categories like illusions and seven deadly sins. It might also make it easier to vote on fewer photos if the group split up between two challenges.

I don't know how hard it would be to administrate two two-week challenges but I believe it would make it easier on everyone else.
I know this topic has been discussed before but it keeps coming up.

I have learned so much more about how to work with the camera from the last two challenges than I would have ever have thought before. I can see lots of opportunities of putting illusion photos into my albums but I agree it does take time. Maybe there could be two weekly challenges, one like illusions, light etc for learning techniques and one less complex. Maybe that would also help with the voting time..

Hell I just apply the age-old rule.....Keep It Simple Stupid......I have recently join this site. I am strictly an amature and am in awe of some of the submissions. I do this for fun. While unsolicited an opinion this may be....I urge you to do it for the same reasons I do. But remember to K.I.S.S. it.

Arghhh -- if I could only flip-flop my two entries from last week and this upcoming challenge I'm sure they would both do better!

Having thought about it all week I cant come up with a a good idea myself, but I appriciate that this challenge is making me think.

I prefer those.

It would be really nice to have a challenege one week only allowing crop and rotate. Or maybe not even those, just resize, see what kind of a picture you can get that way.

If there is anyone on here from Alaska, will you be taking pictures of Optical Aleutians?
