this could be fun, but could be falling into the trap like the colors thing. Pretty close to same type of challenge, if ya know what I mean.
There would be some very interesting shots, I can imagine.

well what if you changed it a bit and made it a challenge for an album cover for DPChallenge ... as if our photos were going to be made into a gallery book ... then it's more with photography and on a more direct level ...

i guess it would be simaler to the sticker challenge but could be an added challenge for the members on the side for those who like to fiddle with the graphic programs in addition to the weekly challenges

just an idea :)

Another approach would be for people to choose their favorite album and then design a cover. Of course, resemblence to the original cover would not be allowed. Hopefully the album cover wouldn't be restricted to cd's. I'm sure I'm not the only old fart who has favorite album that came out in other 'media'!

I think it is a great idea. I did the same assignment in college except that it was in airbrush. I hated that painting and I would love to be able to redo it as a photo and finally feel good about it. Of course, I don't think any members of Metalica are going to pose for me so I would probably have to use another, more local, band that I actually know.

Or, you could do the cover without any images of people, just other stuff that would convey the album name or theme? The album title could be used as the photo title, or would that be copyright infringement? Most of my favorite albums have at least one band member passed to the great band in the sky...

we had this assignment this past semester at school. The purpose for us was to produce a CD cover that had an unusual technique or something different applied to it. It was not meant to be a traditional CD cover (i.e. man sitting on pickup truck with a guitar in hand). We were not allowed to digitally manipulate our images and the results were pretty neat.. interesting some of the stuff people came up with. All you would have to make sure is your image is a square format and decide whether or not to allow people to add text.

Remember.. the point to this assignment was to get artsy images... no safe stuff.
