I've been asked last minute to shoot the wedding of two coworkers this weekend. I haven't heard yet if it's indoors or outdoors, but perticularly if it's indoors, I might invest earlier than planned in a proper flash as I haven't been too impressed with the onboard speedlight. Any recommendations?

I would highly recommend the sb-800. I have been very pleased with mine.

SB-600 will do the same work as a SB-800, just cheaper but a little less powerful.

SB-600 is powerful enougth to shot 3 or 5 shots in a serie without making you wait (recharge bateries before wedding), and meka a decent work even 15 meters away... sure SB-800 would do it at 25 or more, but sure you wont go this far from the folks!

Unless you plan to construct a complex flash "farm", you wont need the SB-800 extra stuff, and in that case, slave flashes will be SB-600 so you don't lose your money even in that case.

I have the sb-800 and love it. Still practicing with it though.

Both the SB-600 and SB-800 are great flashes, if you have the extra cash look harder at the SB-800.

Doesn't the SB800 come with its own dedicated bouncer/diffuser? That would be a plus, especially for people shots.
Also, when you bounce the flash of a wall or ceiling, the extra power can be very useful.

(only have the SB600)

Yes, it has a pull out wide angle illuminator and bounce card. I don't know about the SB-600 but the flash head tilts and rotates horizontally 180 degree to the left or 90 degree to the right.

Edit, can't read
