And by the way, my last name, "Lehmann" is pronounced "Lee-men", but even the loudspeaker blokes in Schipol got it wrong and you'd think they would know! ;-) |
Well, it would depend which Lehmann family you belonged to. I knew someone who pronounced his name "Lay-men". |

Nikon is a Japanese company and the name is pronounced as the Japanese would say it "Nick - on" Both the i and o are short vowels. |

Before reading any replies -- in the USA it is "Nye-Con" At least that's how the company pronounces it in their commercials.

The Japanese call it Ni-Ko-N (knee-kon) so I guess that would have to be correct, after all, they make the things |

Japanese was my college major, and I worked at the Embassy of Japan for two years in the US and for the Japanese government for a year over there. Nikon? The real, Japanese, pronunciation is "Knee-Kohn". Canon? "Kah-Nohn". Honda? "Hohn-dah" with a long "o". But I pronounce them all by the anglicized versions when I'm here (US).
And just for sheetz and giggles? Bokeh is "boh-kay". |
