Freak snow blankets southern Australia
17:41 AEST Wed Aug 10 2005
AAP
Freak snowfalls have hit coastal and low lying areas in Australia's southeast, leaving meteorologists reaching for the record books.

Bitter Antarctic weather blanketed Victoria in the most widespread snow for decades, hit Hobart with its first snowfall in almost 20 years and showered Parliament House in Canberra, and parts of the Blue Mountains and central western NSW, with a series of flurries.

No.Snow is frozen precipitation. Rain is liquid. But what do I know ? I'm just a registered user.

As a general rule, if you have to ask, you'll be scored down for it.

Rain can be in the distance also. I can see (I was taught what to look for) a curtain of rain coming at me, or going away from me or north or south of me.
I think that people have gotten too anal about things lately in challenges. After reading comments from many people I have to think that people need to reevaluate how they look at things. Grass isn't always green. Rain doesn't always fall all the way to the ground, nor does it always fall on you. If there's lightening, there's rain somewhere around it. Does not mean it was falling ON the photographer.

and YES, to me snow would fit in as RAIN. Maybe you'd change your thoughts on it if this challenge has shown up in the US winter instead of the Aussie winter.

You must be the type that, when asked the Time, shows people an hourglass and says "time is relative". or when asked to go to the grocery to buy Paper, you came back with a book. crap

I think the voters will let you know if snow counts as rain! :)

Actually no, I'm not... but i'm not so anal that i would mark down a photo cause the rain is in the distance, or falling as snow...

Well... I won't have rain in my shot, but it will look like it. I first have to check if I can legally enter the picture though :-/

I would say that snow is not rain, but it's precipitation so it's close enough.
