i've only recieved a comment from SJ so far. You all better get to commenting :p

for the record : : You have rated 126 of 127 images (99%) in this challenge.
You have commented on 41 images (32%) in this challenge.

and whats this about not commenting if youre not a pro? You learn more from commenting on other peoples photographs than you do from taking them. It is much easier to have an objective view of something you have not taken yourself because youre not emotionally attached to someone elses work, therefore you are able to see the technical hiccups and what truely is perfect in the photo. Youre shooting yourself in the foot for having an attitude like that.

Well I see it like this, if I have something to say about a photo good or bad that I think is worthy to the person I will put in my 2 cents. Out side of that it's over analyzing and I am not qualified nor good enough to give some one an indepth critique.

Is that better.

and what would make you qualified? Looking at your profile you have ribbions, you have a 5.5 average so you obviously know something about photography. I don't have either of those things, and i do critique club. Its a comment challenge needless to say, not a critique challenge. I certainly don't use the same style or depth in my comments as i do when i put on the CC hat.

EDIT: Done! Sorry if I was too blunt or untactful in some of my comments, but there were a number of entries that I just couldn't get the connection to the challenge topic of Illusions. There were, on the other hand, some amazingly creative and well executed images.

This is a great idea. I've gotten 14 comments on my photo...by far the most comments ever and it really helps. I know I'm not a great photographer so I appreciate all help given to me. In return I'm commenting on more pictures as well. I'm at 50% now. I hope this inspires more comments on other challenges as well.

Yeah, I've completed the challenge. I think this is the first time that I've commented 100% of the submissions. I hope the comments I made were helpful. This was a nice challenge to be a part of. Very good idea.

Well done to all that have completed it. Might I suggest taking it the next step (not right away) but serious try 200. I was fine until I believe 138 and then started losing it.

I've commented on 70 images, but I'm getting tired tonight...will continue tomorrow..it is quite time consuming...am I going to get a fat butt from sitting on this chair so long?

Good luck to all and I apologize in advance for those images that I just didn't understand where the illusion is - not too many but there are still some of them nonetheless.
08/09/2005 09:36:46 PM · #45
had to leave a couple of "i dontget the illusion" comments myself
08/10/2005 10:11:35 AM · #46
same...
forgive me for the photos at the end of the challenge where my comments fell kind of short.. however, it was exhausting.
08/10/2005 12:08:16 PM · #47
I challenged myself on 'Tools of the Trade' to comment on each photo. I found it actually helped me to look at the photographs in more depth than I normally would. I enjoyed the marathon commenting and learnt alot from the process.......
08/11/2005 08:08:39 AM · #48
So now I ask you... did you find it appealing or fun??? I found it very hard to do the long exposure challenge and there were only 200. I probably wouldn't do it again for a while mind you but it was interesting to say the least.
08/11/2005 09:19:51 AM · #49
Yeah - I did enjoy it. And I think that the more I comment, the more I continue to learn about what to look for in my own photography. The last 20 were tough - but I think commenting on shots you've scored a "5" are the most difficult on which to constructively provide feedback.

Thanks again for suggesting this! Perhaps others will take the initiative to do the same for other upcoming challenges. :-)

As always, it's just my 2 cents...

I had fun with it. Took forever though.
What got me was I really build up momentum, and then the screen brings up a photo and I just sit there with nothing to say, at all, whatsoever.

Something else I noticed, is I'd only look at the title if I couldn't 'see' the illusion.

I will do this commenting and voting on all the entries again if less than 201.
