Hey fellow Illinoian or is that Illini, sheesh I don't know. It stormed here today too down in Bourbon - nais ... but wouldn't you know it, I'm stuck inside at work, and they even expect me to work. Go figure.

I'm in the middle of rain country Georgia! Where it's raining 345 days a year and I have no way to get a subscription.

Whoohoo.

I did get my shot a while later. I hope it fares well.

LOL This one should be titled 'Can We Go Home Now?'.

errrr - I swear mother nature is just trying to make sure I can't get a rain shot. The rain forecasted for tomorrow has been now changed to tonight - yeah, right about when the sky turns dark! Supposed to be clear by morning. errrrrr

Go for it Makka - hope you get a good shot or two. Still dry as a bone - even after midnight. Seems the rain is missing us by just a few miles to the south. :-(

No rain here, can hardly remember what it looks like. My entry is more a feeling or an idea of rain.

The typhoon hit the city I live here in China.
But I have a technical problem. My Canon A70 reads that I need at least a 1/10 at 2.8... at ISO 100.
I can get nothing with this settings.
If I go to higher ISO's all I get is noise.
Any suggestions?
I am sure something can come out only that I don't have the proper camera :(

I live in the northwest part of Oregon where it rains constantly...

that is unless there's a Rain challenge.

It hasn't rained for weeks, and tomorrow it's supposed to be in the high 90's inland and 80+ degrees at the coast. We're heading to the beach tomorrow.

I'm not complaining though. It's nice to see the sun again, and I can always fake a rain shot if I really want to enter something.

Enjoy your rain people! I'm gonna go get a suntan. :)

well, there's always tripods. is there much lightning? you could try shooting some, or you could try for something involving streaks of rain on a long exposure.

I have the same problem. I live on the opposite coast, in Connecticut, and we haven't seen rain for weeks either. At least not in the northeastern corner of the state. I was considering faking rain too with a sprinkler, but decided it wasn't worth going out at 100 degrees, even with the sprinkler.

Mildly apropos, perhaps: a mysterious 'Rain Circle' spotted in a nearby park on a rainless day

Don't see why not as long as it looks like rain.

I am seeing a lot of photos where it appears people did "make their own rain"! LOL

No rain at all for me in LA last week (or this whole summer). Ironically this morning at 2:30 a REAL nice thunderstorm woke me up. It was right overhead, the thunder and lightning were instantaneous. I thought about going out and getting some shots, but with a big metal grip-action ballhead on top of a metal tripod I thought that wouldn't be too smart. It started pouring/hailing for about a half hour and moved on. By the time it was safe to go out, the storm moved behind a mountain and I couldn't see the lightning bolts anymore. :-(

Nothing wrong with that. While everyone else was complaining of drought and performing elaborate rain dances, I was begging for a deep blue sky and a few puffy white clouds. Alas, we had hazy gray skies all week, so I couldn't get a background that I was happy with (I even tried a blue tarp). Another good idea wasted. :-(

It was great. I got my shot at 10:30PM last night. I had to wait all week for that.
