OK Yorkshire has suddenly dried up, after weeks of heavy showers at least, and I'm heading south to London for a week where it definitely won't rain! So not only will I not get an entry for the challenge, my garden will dry up and die!
:(

Like many of you, no rain for Kansas in August. This is the dry season with temps around 100 every damn freakin day!

Guess if we plan to enter this one, we'll have to fake rain with a sprinkler LOL

Figures....
We have rain (and if not rain, than exessive wetness) here 24/7, and the sun decides to come out NOW! The forecast is not looking good, sun and clear skies all week....gotta love Hawaii.

If you don't have actual rain, perhaps you could do something like my Yellow entry from last year. ;-)

Dang it's raining far too hard to go out to take pics! Hopefull it's stop and then can get the sprinkler out for some great rain shots. Just hate it with all this lightning and towering thunder clouds. Darn the luck anyway ;)

Well, been cloudy all day and not a drop of rain yet . . .

I was going to sit back and stay quiet until the voting started..., but here's something to ponder about:

By now, everyone is probably thinking of rain in the popular sense. I however believe that this challenge was posted for the Perseids. Both, the member and open challenge descriptions have suffient clues in them hinting towards "rain" of an alternate form. Oh, and do be careful with your equipment. I read this article about a car being totaled once due to a meteorite the size of a basketball.

The Perseid showers are expected to peak on the nights of Friday and Saturday. Happy Shooting =)

It's not supposed to rain here at this time of the year, so it was quite a surprise to see rain in the forecast just after this challenge was announced. Just my luck, it was only a few drops and well after dark, so I didn't have a chance to even try anything for the challenge. After a string of low scores, I'm not prepared to risk faking it either, so I doubt I'll be entering.

Well, I'll be entering for sure. I was just posting all that info, so I won't be the only one to get voted down :)

shucks!
08/10/2005 08:05:17 PM · #89
Going to be sunny and in the 90's all week, but I am still going to enter. Who says you need rain to enter a rain challenge anyway???

Oh come on...you can think of something...it's not brain surgery, right?

I just came back from taking some rain photos...had one of those summer thunderstorms where basically three weeks of rain falls in approximately 20 minutes. It was in-frickin'-tense. Hopefully, something came out...we'll see!

Well, here in Texas, no rain, so I took a picture of my beagle urinating on a fireplug. Nearest thing to rain I have seen in a month.

Wait..... OH NO!!! Damn big mouth,,,

so much for rain....we were supposed to get rain both Tuesday and Wednesday. It rained Tuesday morning in the wee early hours while I was sleeping and it was dark out. Wednesday was dry and sunny. Next chance is supposedly going to be on Friday night - wouldn't you know, I work from 6pm-6am. Doesn't look promising for me.

It been raining on and off over that past few weeks here in the East Midlands of the UK - now what do you know we get a challenge for the stuff and it drys up - might have to do reverse psycology or make my own rain - actually weres the winner of the tools comp I could get him over here to help out.
Just had a look at the 5 day forcast on BBC and it says there MIGHT be rain on Saturday may be just maybe there might be a chance yet.

Ok to solve your "update addiction" why not make a puddle in your yard, garden or driveway and shoot that. Go for brown. hrmm... the brown ribbon... The chit ribbon???

It has been reported this is the worst drought in 30 years. Farmers crops are destroyed. My grass is burnt and has'nt been mowed in 5 weeks.
Then....a DP Challange RAIN! and Voila!

Hope it keeps up til later.
08/11/2005 06:15:30 PM · #100
Well the rain DID continue and worsened, much to the chagrin of my family. My very understanding wife made an analogy to being a storm chaser and referred to us now as the "challange chasers." Here they are being as enthusiastic as can be expected considering...

I did get my shot a while later. I hope it fares well.
