Hi all!
I am a volunteer at a no-kill animal shelter in Illinois: //www.cisarshelter.com

I take all the pictures for the shelter and created the webpage by scratch using notepad. I'd really appreciate comments and suggestions.

Also, Petfinder has a great program to show animals- it will only take a small area on your webpage and places a picture of an adoptable animal. //www.petfinder.org/tools/featuredpet/index.html
If you live near Illinois, I'd appreciate it if you pick IL264 as the shelter to show animals from- we really need the publicity and would appreciate your help!

Thanks!

I think it's really great that you do this. I've been wanting to do the photos for a shelter near here but they seem to all already have photos (which is probably good since most of the animals would end up at my house!)

My suggestion for the site design would be to make it a little less busy. Maybe if you can define the columns a little better...maybe make a column down the lefthand side with all your columny things and make the background of that a different color than the main content section, if that makes sense. And add some metatags so you're sure to be picked up by search engines.

I recently adopted an Aussie Sheperd from //www.petfinder.com

I lost my 10+ year companion on April 1st. Found my new boy a few weeks later. His name is Rocket and he is so cool. A shelter in Lovelock NV put him on a plane to me that next week. He is now a member of our family!

Your pics are great. I hope you find home for your animals.

That's awesome that you have taken so much time and effort in building this site for these amazing animals. They all deserve so much love!

As for your site, I agree with mk about the page being busy. Maybe making separate webpages for your links, such as Volunteer, etc. That would probably take away some of the clutter on the main page. Also, a page with photos showing some of the animals and their new owners when they are adopted would be nice.

Thanks for sharing!

The site is a great way of making people aware of the work you do. I do think that you should spread the information over more pages rather than having so much one page. I think you need to grab your visitors quickly and then let them roam around the site as they wish.

Hi all,
I re-vamped the web site using your suggestions. ( I still need to do a bit on the index page). Please let me know what you think, and other suggestions.

Thanks!

Hi Gaia! The site is looking much better! Not as busy, so it's easier to focus on the important stuff. Just one other suggestion....a link to the home page from the other pages would be great. I found it hard to navigate my way back. Other than that, it's looking good!

This is great that you are giving chances for a better place for these poor animals. About your site, I think you should organize your icons by placing those that belong together in a single row or column, they look a bit clutter. And you have big space that you can use to fill up with your ads and infos.

What a generous and wonderful act of kindness. Not a good web site critique guy, but I certainly applaud your efforts.

Thanks to everyone for the encouragement!
Mae, what did you mean by the icons? I moved some more things around again- could you tell me what still needs improvement?

Would you believe that I made the web site after reading how to create a HTML file on pagetutor.com using notepad? LOL.

Thanks again! Please keep commenting and viewing. The traffic helps the site as well!
