I considered this one, but thought it might not have enough impact but I still like it.

I was trying all week to do something but didn't like any of them enough so I submitted nothing this time. Perhaps I was wrong.
Most of it were some bird shots and one human shot!

One reason that I haven't entered in awhile.

But it's unfair to those who want to see them to be told, "Don't post." It defeates the purpose of DPC. This isn't kindergarten, we're all big-people here, so lets just handle this like adults. Agree to disagree and leave it at that.

I don't see a problem with it either. I just happen to believe that there is a time and a place for them. It used to be that outtakes were never shown until after the voting period was over. It just wasn't done. It wasn't a rule then it was just considered common courtesy which apparently doesn't exist anymore.

I really like the duck and bird shots, you should have entered one of them, I like the duck one the most.

I was really trying to get this kind of shot from the front - but couldn't hook the tripod up properly. This one didn't quite have the impact I was going for.

Not necessarily...one view is no way conclusive.

How many may not have had the courage to enter the challenge and posted to one of these threads and found out (thru positive feedback) that their shot was better than they thought, therefore gaining the courage to enter the next time around.

And before you add that the posting of 'outtakes' could wait until after the challenge is over, consider this. Outtakes after the challenge do not generate the same amount of enthusiasm that they do while the challenge is active. Many are applauding the results, discussing why their favorite didn't score highly, or have moved their focus to the next challenge in submission phase.

Of course this is my opinion, strictly speculation...nothing "proven" whatsoever. ;^)

Who needs a tripod? Try handheld on a bicycle? ;^)

There are a lot of very good entries in this challenge. My entry is somewhere below middle ground. Should have submitted something else.

"Weighing in on the whole time to post outtakes debate" Personally I have no problem with people posting outtakes after voting has started. I have seen a couple of times where people posted "outtakes" while submissions were still being taken and I think that is way out of line. I also don't agree with the couple of times I have seen outtakes very similar to what someone entered prior to the end of voting. Since joining DPC almost a year ago my life has taken some dramatic turns and I haven't had time to enter challenges- my job currently takes up about 55-65 hours a week. I am really looking forward to having time to enter and, when I do, seeing outtakes will have no impact on me. I am sure that any number of my shots will go down in flames. And I applaud those people whose outtakes are better than my entry. Its just a reason to learn and improve. And quite frankly there are a few very well done shots that have gone down in flames on here. -That might be an interesting thread to start- Your favorite most hated photo.

to me it does prove there is one person who maybe decided his work is not good enuff to 'bore' other people with in challenges and that might be a very well decision for everyone involved
there is room enuff to learn by looking and asking and thinking
personaly im not waiting for a challenge with 500 images from wich lets say 300 imo is not ready for a 'serious competition' imo
500 entries are make me stay away from going tru them in the first place..i can't help it just works does way and im sure im not alone in this..and thats too bad for them with serious intentions
but thats another topic i guess..

in this regard i like to mention the 'long exposure'challenge is a lovely collection of fine efforts practically all of them have a decent quality and than i even love the weaker ones amongst them and i feel like encouraging them in the first place
anyway ijust wanted to let u know a challenge like this is why i love this site DP in the first place and its a wonderful opportunity for all of us and im happy to be here and met some great people here too !!

I took this on the 4th of July so it wouldn't work for the long exposure Challenge

Just wondering what you think about it. I personally really like it.

This was going top be my entry, but I didn't feel inspired enough with it to enter it.

basically i think this is a wonderful and interesting view with this wild onfire lines against the fascinated look of the boy
on the other hand there is lot of room for improvements
i think the red in the picture is a tad too much and could be made more vivid with some easy tools in ps like contrast or levels
and the crop of the feet is a bit sloppy ofcourse and more a matter of keep ure head kool and keep a watch on composition when u get exited :-))

Had a real hard time deciding between this one and the one I submitted.

I really liked this one the best, but I used the a keystoning correction technique to repair freaky perspective distortion that would have disqualified me.

Ok, I showed an out take, so I guess I'm not courteous. OH well..... I think it's ok to post after the voting has started but that's just me. I figure if I don't want to look, I won't read the thread.

Am I making enemies yet??

experiments

handheld 3secs exposure
for 2,5 sec i tried to keep the cam as still as possible
the 0,5 sec i used for a pull down movement to get the effect
edited it a litlle afterwards

Here's the one I wanted to submit for the Long Exposure challenge, but I thought it would get beat up for being too bright around the windows and door.

I took this one and it fits the challenge but was not the type of shot I wanted to enter... I never did get the shot so no entry this time

This is one I got Friday night but I unsubmitted as I wasn't happy with it and thought it would do badly. I'm a bit gun shy. I had my best result in the zoo 6.7 and for tools of the trade I have my worst 4.5!

Any thoughs comments?

You should always listen to your hubby, but don't do what they picked. :-)

Mine too! I'd realy like some advice on 2 specifically, but they all have one thing in common which would give away my entry. guess I'll have to wait.

Oh and DUH, never listen to hubby! lol
