I'm quite thoroughly bummed that I missed this! I somehow managed to only learn of it after it was too late to make plans, and ironically I was in DC yesterday as all of the dust was settling!

Not sure whether you guys had an opportunity to see something like this, but while my daughter and I were walking back to the car, President Bush was returning to the White House (at around 4:00 yesterday afternoon).

Here's a shot of his fleet o' choppers as they passed by:

PS -- Would somebody please tell me the significance of the name "NotaCon?" I feel quite stupid that I haven't been able to figure that out...!!

NotaCon = Not a Convention
(Clara's rather unconventional, by her own admission, and I can vouch for the rest of the hard-working organizers....o.k. and all those who showed up...and probably all those who thought about showing up...but not me, of course!)

Some of my stuff:

The rest of it:

~

Things I learned this weekend:

1) I need a sturdier tripod.
2) The reflecting pool is only about a foot deep.
3) My 18-55mm doesn't like being at the bottom of the reflecting pool.
4) Waiting 2 seconds for mirror lock-up is better than waiting 10 seconds for the auto-timer on the 20D.
5) I should've taken more pictures (ended up with about 280).

These are some great photos folks. What a good time!!

And Langdon, there's nothing wrong with a few waterspots in the lens. Just stay out of basic challenges and you should be able to clone 'em right out. ;-P And I agree, you SHOULD enter more challenges... with all your free time. :-)

Wow! following this thread is getting to be better than "Survivor"!

We didn't have anything like this on the Fossil Rim Safari

The most exciting thing on our tour was a very friendly Giraffe :)

I would like to meet very friendly giraffe up close. In Bronx zoo they are too far away.

late to the game, but here are the first ones I could manage to sit still and edit! Highlights include JPR in line at the FDR memorial and dahkota getting that perfect shot!

And the boys at the party having a rockin' good time!
