My wife caught this insect in the house, it looks somewhat like some sort of a wasp, but it's strange. Does anyone have an idea what it is?.
The photo itself isn't much good as I don't have any macro lenses (I used 3 close-up filters stacked.

It's a winner in the next Macro challenge if you can preserve it :)

Thanks Sher... I learn something every day. It looks exactly like that photo of the Mud Dauber, so I think that's what it is.
Cool.
Faidoi, my wife would kick me out of the house if I tried to preserve this thing in any way until the next macro challenge... who knows, maybe by that time I might actually have a macro lens to use. That was a pretty crappy photo, but hey, I got my answer, and fast.

Just a warning...from my own experience. Those big mud nests that they make in your eaves or inside garage etc...Do Not, I repeat, Do Not stand under them and break them open with a stick.
Unless, of course, you enjoy being rained on by 50 paralyzed spiders! I learned to wait until the cells have opened and the baby wasps are gone to knock down the nests.

Could just be a politian of any variety: it doesn't appear to have a spine... |
