I am finally buying a DSLR, (quietly jumping up and down) :)

I am trying to find the best deal in oz, so if there are any aussies on here that can point me in a good direction that would be great. I thought about buying second hand but it would have to be a super special deal. I figured i would get the 300d or the 350d, depending on what deal i can find. So if anyone has any ideas that would be great.
Cant wait to hear from someone, anyone :)

The best thing to do is get out to some stores and try some cameras out. Don't just look at Canon because thats what everyone else uses. Make your own choice.

i have done alot of research and i am choosing canon cause i want one.
I have 2 lenses that i can use from a previous camera so that is a main reason for picking that.

Lisa believe it or not Harvey Norman (Hardly Normal)can do a very good price on Canon cameras, they also can arrange finance if you need it.

I think I saw the 350d kit for $1599.00 just recently.

Also these guys sound cheap

I am an ex-Harvey Norman camera guru...they are pretty good at getting good prices, though some more 'professional' buyers get put off because a large percentage of their staff do not have very good knowledge (but a lot do!)

If you are buying with cash (which is anything but finance) then you should be able to hound for a good deal! Get them to throw in extra memory cards, do deals on lenses etc...they have room to move and if you get the right person then you'll score well! You can always threaten to go to Good Guys down the road and they'll cave in! :)

Hey! No worries at all! Just make sure you push for a better deal though! If some little punk gives you attitude, ask to speak to someone else, or the floor manager...Harvey Norman prefer the turnover! You CAN get really good deals if you push hard enough!
