I just got the Nikkor/Nikon AF-S VR 70-200mm f2.8 G IF-ED Lens and tried to update my profile but I don't see that lens listed. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks! I went ahead and listed it as the one without the VR. Now, I just need to learn how to use it better.... Mary

The SC or whomever just made a mistake, because the AF-S VR 70-200 f2.8 is the only Nikon len to ever use that exact focal length range.

Updated. The links on the lens page did go to the VR lens on Pricegrabber and Amazon, but the VR was left out of the name.

Hello. I noticed that there is no category for tilt shift lenses. Maybe an "Other" category would fit the bill? I have an MC Arsat 35mm/2.8Tilt Shift lens.

There is an "other" category, I think I startedt it, LOL. I'll add the 35mm MC Arsat T/S...

Thanks Kirbic. I wonder if there are any other users of TS lenses. I've been using mine for a while but since TS lenses are manual, I'm always having to shoot dozens before I get the shot I want right.

Any users out there? Maybe we can have a little tutorial? Here's a sample of a shot I took with the lens. I know you can "distort" the perspective in Photoshop so I guess TS lenses are rendered useless not unless you use regular 35mm film.

Added, here.
I'm not aware of other users of T/S lenses here. I just noticed that the Canon T/S lenses are not listed, so I guess I'll have to correct that :-)
I think that Tilt/shift lenses are still very useful with digital. While minor perspective corrections are possible with PS, you will end up losing resolution in doing so. Tilting the focal plane is something that cannot be duplicated in software, and can give stunningly beautiful results in the hands of someone more talented than I, LOL. For macro work, tilting the focal plane can help to make maximum use of the small DoF. Try using your tilt/shift lens with extension tubes as a macro lens!

Edit: The Canon T/S lenses are listed, I didn't see them at first. There are at least two users of those lenses here (not a larg group by any means!). Eventually, a T/S lens is on my list, but prolly down the road a ways.

About Nikon lenses.

It seems to me that 300mm F4.0 nikon lens is listed twice.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/4.0D IF-ED
and
Nikon AF Nikkor 300mm f/4.0 IF-ED Silent Wave

At least it has the same picture and I think that Silent Wave is some misunderstanding.

But perhaps I'm wrong and those are two individual lenses.

I do believe those two are actually different products.

I have it now too...someone updated it for us. Thanks Kirbic (I think that is who fixed it anyway!)

No, those are the same product. AF-S is Nikon's name for its silent wave focusing motors. Nikon did however make an AF Nikkor f4.0 IF-ED 300mm. If differs from the newer model by not having a silent wave focusing motor, 82mm front threads and 39mm rear filter drawer (as opposed to the just 77mm front threads of the AF-S). I can't remember right off the top of my head if the basic optical design (elements, etc) changed.

Sorry, you're going to have to get rid of the lens. It's not in the database because the lens sucks. Send me the lens, and I'll 'properly dispose of it' -- thanks for your time.
