$540 for a new 17-40 f4 L with free shipping.

It's $680 at Amazon and B&H.

DONE!

Thanks!

It doesn't say anything about whether it's a USA or Import... what do you think?

Who cares? Same item. I don't know if there is a way to tell by looking at it...probly serial number.

So...you claim you bought it while travelling overseas.

I found at the hard way that Nikon USA won't offer warranty or even website connection to graymarket serial numbers. This is why B&H sells their "import" lenses with their own 1-yr warranty. I presume Canon is the same way.

So, save some money and take your chances; if it's a defective lens, you're out of luck.

Bought it from Dell.com and it did not state that it was grey market. I would not worry.

I couldn't even get in the site. Didn't realize it was Dell. I wouldn't worry if Dell is selling it, nope.

It's $799 minus 25% with a code and minus $60 with another code = $540 and they throw in free shipping.

Nikon works that way. Canon does not. One more reason to buy Canon!

It's threads like this that feed on my compulsiveness! I read, I click, I read, I calculate, I look at some more info, I see another 2% discount for using Dell's preferred credit, I apply, I'm approved immediately for $5k, I buy the freakin' 17-40 f4 L.

Now to cover up the evidence from my wife...

I shred, I burn, I delete emails. ;-)

Looks like a kick-ass lens!

That's how I ended up upgrading my 300D to the 350D. Curse the people who post those things! ;)

I tried the same formula today on the 100mm Macro, but alas, it was not 25% off. I am trying to resist buying any more stuff for a while, but it's too difficult...

Get the 60mm, you won't regret it. Fabulous!

I was tempted to get this to play around with for a short while and then resell - but the $20 in shipping and $40 in taxes are killing me. Guess I'll pass and let someone have it that will actually hold onto it.

I was a manager for a world wide chain of stores that had there own credit card. Even though it was the companies credit card a bank backs it. So when the company wanted to increase there store credit card purchases they would offer 10-25% off your first purchase. Great deal for the customers especially a large purchase.

The only draw backs that the discount offer had and believe me it was in very, very, small print.
"Don't be 1 day late on a payment" - it would void the discount offer and they would add the discount onto the card and applicable interest reverted back to the purchase date.

Not saying you would be late but the mail can sometimes cause someone to be late. But I think dell will let you make CC payments via Internet.

Thanks for that warning, Scott. You are correct - they are all pretty much like that. I will pay it off with the first payment - I just wanted the extra 2% discount. :)

Ditto... and now I've ordered a 17-40. Thank you and curses.

On a side note, Ritz Camera had Epson P-2000 media viewers for $79 on Amazon's website. I ordered one as fast as my sweaty fingers could type and it went through. They just called me yesterday and said that it was a typo and supposed to be $499. Oddly enough, they shipped it, then called me and said that it was just the replacement battery they shipped and that I should just refuse it. Hmm... I wonder if that's REALLY what they shipped...? ;-)

Woo! Thanks for the heads up.

I already have the 17-40L but have been eyeing a 70-200 for sometime now and I went ahead and ordered it (even if it is the f4 and not the f2.8 it is better than what I have now...).

I was able to stack all 3 coupons mentioned on the slickdeals site and picked it up for $492 (before taxes and shipping).
