Thank you all who commented (41 comments during the challenge, a record for me) and voted on my Extreme Kayaking entry. I have absolutely NO merit in getting that shot, the 1D II did all the work, I set it to AI servo focus, 45 point AF, Continuous 8.5fps and just fired away. I was at Faxi falls in South West Iceland when I saw these 2 guys driving down to the river with kayaks on top of their car, I stayed around knowing there was going to be some major action, and I was right...

I was expecting between a 5.8 and a 6 because I submitted the wrong shot and titled it wrong, I was planning to submit the 2nd shot in the sequence below but goofed and found out too late to change it. Here is a partial sequence of the full burst.

He flipped over:

But fortunately got rescued by his partner who was spotting him further downstream:

Very nice, thanks for sharing the sequence :). I personally like the second one in the series you posted.. but obviously the one you submitted did quite well, so maybe it's just me :P

A great capture and no, you get the credit. I never knew a camera that decides what the subject is. lol Yes, yes, they have have all of these spying systems and cameras that photograph people and license plates but no one will attribute awareness to them.

Ah, methinks you are being too modest. But it is great to know that you have a great tool that will respond to your wishes soooo coool.

I think my fav. is nr 5 as he is so deep in it. You see the power and the height quite well.
Nice capture.

Cool shot Nick! Congrats on your 11th place and it was a pleasant surprise to see that you took it here in Iceland, I know the faxi waterfall very well, I have been there several times.

Which sad sack gave you 3's and 1's?

well done.

(to be honest i was hoping to get better that i did some of the pics that scored higher that me do not show the "action of sport" as the comp description was. but hay ho better luck next time for me maybe)

great sequence to open in tabs in firefox then run through them by putting your mouse on the tab line and using the scroll wheel... just like a movie :)

great shots, that would make a great framed sequence like the lighthouse one with the waves that we've all seen. Wonderful work!

Wow -- great shots. I like the one you submitted, and you did very well, but IMHO several of the others would have put you into ribbon territory! But the real prize is the shot anyway! Great work.

This one just might have gotten you the blue.

I love the entire sequence. What an awesome series of shots. I too am surprised as anyone who would score you under a 9 - and disgusted with those who would dare give you 1's and 3's...they obviously are purposefully trying to sabotage scores this way.
