Is it just my imagination or are the a lot of elephant posteriors in this challenge. No offence to the photographers. Just seemed a bit Odd

And my Zoo score is holding at 6.334. My first 2 sixes in one week! :)

8.478 woohoo now if only I can figure out some way to move the bothersome little 4 that actualy sits in front of that pretty number.

Think about it: 1. The zoo challenge was concurrent. 2. What could be more textural than an Elephant's ass?

I was at 6.2086 once :( I hoped to score a bit better than 6. Hope it won't dip below. My photo was validated just yesterday. Still fun though.

Woot, I'm still above 5! :)

Most of my photos have dipped below 5 two days into the voting, so there's hope yet from the weekend crowd! Will it get into the 5.2's - probably not, the photo is no where near as good as reality got. This image is zingy on my CRT monitor, but only so-so on 2 LCD screens with differing configs. Oh well. Still, there's 5 days of voting left...

Look into my eyes:

Hey all... I'm probably the newest newbie here (1st entry - and just found this site like a week ago)

I just wanted to let you all know that in the future I'll probably comment more than I have, but I haven't done that many this time around... my fingers are tired just from clicking my votes...

Thanks for all the comments I've recieved so far...
Very cool community, I've learned a lot already...

and LOL on the elephants (Thought I stumbled upon a pachyderm porn site for a second there)

not that they were bad shots - just a lot of them... ;O)

Comment: Yummy, delicious, and excellent textures. The highlights are a little bright in the ****** and the very colorful background may be a tad distracting, but tough to take much off for anything in this shot. Nice composition too. 8

Hell yeah! That's what I'm talkin about!

Keep'em comin baby...keep'em comin!

I for one am voting lower on macros. I find macros are overused and lack creativity. If we were to take macros, that would have been part of the subject. Anyway, I did the same thing. Created a composition of texture by stepping back, rather than getting close and personal. I turned off the voting so I could not see the scores. I checked once near the beginning and out of 40 votes, my average was 4.8.

Most are macros or zoomed in close. Where as I tried to take a step back and include my "texture" as an object in my photo. I imagine if I had just taken a picture of said object out of context it would have done much better.

*shrug*

I again find the use of macro extremely creative. It get you close enough to almost feel the texture. If the texture were a tree bark I agree. But really to vote someone down for doing a macro of a bee or a texture on fruit or perhaps a human brain cell without a macro would be unfair.

Dont vote someone down in principal because you have a hangup with macros. Vote the image not the method, besides the photographer may have zoomed out completely and is using wide angle to boot on a lowely zoom lens.

I am just happy not to see the family album on this one. Thats why I like macros, not many family members fit in them.

Certainly it gives credit to the MOST TEXTURED MODEL ON EARTH. "THE ELEPHANT".

The question.... does it reduce the photographers originality, creativity or does it confirm that photomanicas think alike???

I had some fun with this one and knew I'd get hammered for it. But hey, that's what I'm all about, having fun & getting hammered!

When I looked at previous texture challenges I saw an elephant as a ribbon winner and thought I'd try that - then I realised 600 people were probably doing and thinking the same, so I went down another path;)

But, I'm happy with it, my highest photo was a 5, so I'm breaking my high score.

I'm pretty disgusted with it myself. The comments are pretty darn funny. I think people are color blind. Oh Well... I had such high hopes for this one, too.

Oh my! The sheer number is staggering. I've managed to leave comments but it's quite disappointing that I never even got a single one. Maybe because I'm at an average so most don't think it's necessary.

Sorry for the rant.

What are the odds that my two current challenges would be exactly 1 point different in their average scores??? Go figure!
