Well looking at the submitted and the one comment I've received I see in part why I am getting slammed.
Most are macros or zoomed in close. Where as I tried to take a step back and include my "texture" as an object in my photo. I imagine if I had just taken a picture of said object out of context it would have done much better.

I seem to have the most views and the most votes but NOT a single comment :( I was aiming for a high 5 especially for a last minute entry but oh well... how about top 150 instead? |

Dang, it sure dropped from last night! I **WAS** sitting at a 7.111 at one time. Oh well, so far this is a personal best, so I'm pretty happy. |

I know what you mean! I've dropped from 6.4+ to 5.5. Hope this trend turns around soon!

slowly creeping up again.. keep it up guys... I really need this one to break 6.
I have set a personal goal that if and when my score crosses 6 then only I will buy the membership of the site. (this might sound very stupid and 6.0 may not mean much to a lot of you)... but I noticed that my scores hover over 6 in first couple of days of voting but steadily fall down as the fdays progress... this one seems like it is going to be different.
Well in the end it means a lot to me so I don't care if others think otherwise.

That's a great way to go about it. I wish everyone would vote drunk. I could use the extra push on the votes any way I can get'em. Even if they come from the benefits of a rosy alcohol glow.

Although I did poorly in Sports, with Zoo and Textures I actually said to myself "you have to try something different!" So I did. I have remained over a 6 so far in Zoo and am at 5.9 for the duration so far with Textures III. Great comments on both so far as well. So overall I am pleased.
Some shots I just didn't get in Textures. However, there were a lot of good shots. But I think a lot of people who usually don't shoot macro or close up entered. Not meant as an insult to anyone. But it seemed to me a lot of shots would have benefitted greatly if better focused or a different DoF was achieved. A lot of shots I could see scoring very highly - over 6 for sure - if only there was a bit more focus or a centrally focused area. Just a general comment.

DITTO ! YOu took the words right out of my mouth. I couldn't have stated it any better! SLAUGHTERED! WORST SCORE...By Far...not that bad a shot, I thought. Oh well...will just move on to the next challenge and leave this one behind.

yeah, mine's only at 4.5, and I really liked it! Only problem was that when I resized it, it got blurry. |

I don't know what you are using for post processing, but one thing you should definately consider: You should save one final stage of sharpening for AFTER you resize. In fact, I do all my sharpening at the final resolution to make sure I have ultimate control. Sometimes sharpening and then resizing has unusual results.
