Good news for me, more support for the Minolta mount! With the announcement of the 5D, I'm becoming more and more confident (and relieved) with my choice.

Not surprising given a recent report saying that the DSLR market is the fastest growing one in the industry, expected to grow by 81% in 2005. Profit margins are also much much bigger than with P & S...not to mention all the DSLR lenses you are selling.

My guess (and I stress guess) is that there is more profit margin in lenses than in camera. If they were smart, they would sell an entry level dSLR and very little or no profit to get a hugh volume of people new to dSLRs that will then buy lenses and stay with the company buying more lenses and upgrading (to a more expensive) camera body.

I wonder where this will leave Nikon, since they source their sensors from Sony presently......
