Can anyone tell me where I can buy some red and blue pills?

I was going to paint some. :) Either that or find me a white rabbit!

Not all women dig love scenes and I bet not all men dig war stuff either. I'm guessing there are just as many people who wouldn't be interested in a Gone With the Wind challenge as there are with the Matrix.

Yeah but it has a wider appeal than the matrix. I think I would rather do an intruptation of Saving Private Ryan than the matrix....at least I didn't fall asleep watching it...

wider appeal? hmm I would like to see a comparison of box office receipts... I bet the matrix wins hands down in that catagory.... most people I know either do not know what gone with the wind is, or have never seen it... most of the actors from that movie are dead by now...

heck for all we know we are living in a matrix... drew and langdon are probably just computer programs toying with our minds each week as they post the challenges...

Living in a matrix? That would explain the greenish tinge on some of my shots. Here I thought my white-balance had gone wonky.

you don't need to paint them...just photgraph them and use the color/saturation feature in photoshop to make them red OR blue. then enter them in a colour challenge.

The second movie in the trilogy, titled "The Matrix Reloaded" is coming out in theaters tomorrow. The original movie "The Matrix" is available for rent (although it may be rented out due to people wanted to see it before they see the second one).
05/14/2003 05:48:07 PM · #110
So that means I won't be seeing the second one for 2 weeks here. We are always late at getting cool stuff. Rats!
05/14/2003 05:48:39 PM · #111
I never thought about jelly beans...thanks.

I would buy it if it's out, renting a movie is about $6 and the movie is $19.99 (atleast where I'm at).

Sorry but Keanu Reeves has got to be the worst Canadian actor ever. That's who was in in wasn't it? Needless to say, I never saw The Matrix. I don't think your theme this week is very universal. Not all your members or registered users are fans of these types of movies or movies in general. I am a movie fan but I might just have to opt out of this one.

So if Keanu Reeves was a good actor it would be a good Challenge subject?

I'm not a big fan of Secondary Colours. (mostly because I'm partly orange/green colour blind) You don't hear me complaining. Well, that was until now... =o)

Keanu Reeves is ok but yep you got it right Not all members or registered users are fans of these type of movies! I don't like that type of movie, its like watching CNN's coverage of the invasion of Iraq!

Why is the challenge being tied to a movie. Personally from what I have heard about it doesnt appeal to me, so I that means I am not able to participate......

I am also wondering how much the makers of the film are paying this group to advertise their product.

Which is a point against the film and not the CNN news? ;-)

I happen to like this challenge very much. Not only because I like the movie but because I like the idea to let somebody elses work inspire you and create a photo from that. But more in the sense of a tribute than plagiarism. We did something similar in the "Song Titles" challenge.

You guys are funny. :)

I scanned this thread briefly and I'm not sure if anyone realized that you can interpret it any way you want. Sure it's in honor of the movie, but you can go photograph a Toyota Matrix or a some mathematic calculations of matrices on paper if you wanted.

OK, we're nerds. In honor of the Matrix:Reloaded launch, photograph your interpretation of 'the matrix'.

Langdon, how is a pic of a Toyota Matrix an interpretation of the movie? Maybe I'll dig out my Calculus notes from years ago and photograph some mathematical matrices. But then I guess some smarta&& (like moi)would say, "Well, duh, what does that have to do with the movie?" I'm just being a pick. :)

As someone that hasn't seen the movie, I'm not sure if I'll submit or not. But I certainly have no problem with this as a challenge. As long as we all have to find hobbits to photograph in December :)

John, as per your "Most of the most terrible violence in the world is because of religions... imagine that..." comment, I'll repost it in a thread in the rant forum and respond. :)

Likely no more than the camera companies are paying to have their cameras advertised.

Yup, that's how I saw it too.

Challenge topic: What is the Matrix?
Challenge Details: OK, we're nerds. In honor of the Matrix:Reloaded launch, photograph your interpretation of 'the matrix'.

I interpreted 'the matrix' as being the reality perceived by everyone who was 'plugged into' it, meaning it's our every day environment. So if in my mind I saw myself as a swimsuit supermodel *tongue in cheek*, I could, as an idea for this challenge, take self portraits of myself clad only in a bikini and in a tropical setting that looks to be from the pages of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition. Of course in reality, a) no way could my short stick figure body pass for a swimsuit model, and b) I'm not even close to being able to take magazine quality photos. ;-)

Basically what I'm saying is that this challenge to me is about interpretation and imagination, which I'm totally up for. It'll be fun.

Hmmm, how does that saying go??

You can please some of the people all of time,
but you can't please DPCers much of the time at all. or something like that.

If you like the movie, shoot and submit.

If you don't, take a week off.

If you are like me and haven't seen a movie in like 6 years, and don't have a TV, do a search on the Internet and submit a picture that is way off base. My first thought was one of those algebra type problems where you have to solve the matrix or whatever.

Just look up Matrix in the dictionary for pete's sake. All this whinging about a challenge, I haven't been on here long, but boy some people like to moan and moan and moan! Like the man said take a week off, go shopping, put your feet up or even better rent the Matrix on DVD or video!
