"Curves" was my first entry into the photo challenge. I really appreciate the comments that have been made so far on my entry. I could take the comments and implement them and improve my score considerably, and I think that's what it is all about. On the voting side, I am grouping my votes in a somewhat narrow range without comment until I feel better qualified. I have learned quite a lot on this challenge, hope to learn much more, and appreciate the opportunity to participate.

Thanks,

Well, I have to second that! "Curves" was my first entry also - I've been watching and observing and have been telling everyone about this site. I too appreciate the comments made about my entry - for someone who just picked a camera up in December for a vacation...I'm hooked!! Thanks for everyone's help!

I'll third it ! I've been lurking about here for a month and that's about how long I've been playing around in photography. I've been playing in the graphics field for a few years and it's fun but this is the ulitmate for me. I'm hooked !

The only thing I am a bit let down about is; there's been 82 votes and only 6 comments. 1 suggestion. I *REALLY* want to learn. That's my nature. I want to become the best *I* can be at this. Please, if you are voting, give constructive comments, pointing out good and bad things YOU feel. It really helps:)

It's great to get comments, thankyou all. I'm quite new as well to DPC and am trying to comment on as many entries as possible but the number of entries have grown dramatically over the last month to the present 90 odd submissions and its taken me ages to do the first 25 (don't have broadband) but will persevere! The quality of most of these images is so good that comments are also becoming longer.

Hah! Join the club. Absolute newbie here. Possesion of camera - 2 weeks. Submission - 1. Time on DP - less than 1 week. Learning curve - maximum gradient. I agree that the most learning comes from commenting, reading comments, and getting them. Thanks a lot for feedback.

It does take a while to comment on photos when there are 96 entries. I am trying to get around to as many as I can each day. This time I have had 13 comments so far. That is up from the past challenges. I have also noticed there seems to be more thought put into the comments I have received. That doesn't mean they are all compliments but they are constructive and I appreciate that. The one weakness I was concerned about in my photo is the one being pointed out. I will probably retake the picture again at some point and work on the glich of this submission just for my own benefit. Thanks to all who use this site to teach and learn.

I am also a new kid on the block. I love this sight. I am getting out of bed earlier just to see my comments and what is new in the forums. I love to get comments on my photo. 88 people have voted on mine and only 8 have left a comment. Thank you for the ones who did leave them. It took me about 45 minutes and a lot of shoots to get my picture just right. Well to me it was perfect, but when someone else looks at it they see things I could have done different and in turn makes me look at my photo in a different perspective. I love that! Great sight. I am having so much fun!

Being new this too, I really appreciated the constructive comments left on my first submission "Holy Entrance" in architecture. I didn't submit one for Curves because I couldn't agree on a good idea and ran out of time. I think there were really a lot of wonderful shots submitted in this challenge it was a hard voting process. I also want to include some info on how I did my first submission for those that asked. Thanks to you all. It was interesting to hear the different views. I hope I covered all the questions. I took the shot with a new wide angle lens that I got, I wasn't used to using it and was playing around with it. I agree it was a bit blurry, but I kinda liked the effect so stuck with it in this shot. The reason for the angle framing, was that I took one of it framed normally and it was just too boring. I happen to like the feel the angle shot gave it so stuck with that too. I do remember doing a little bit of fooling with the levels to bring out the cream color in the door framing, but not much. I liked the subdued color to it. Photographing churches is a favorite passtime of mine. I love their architecture and beauty.

This was also my first entry. I fear I am so out of my league but look forward to learning. I have had a hand in Portrait photography for many years, but have no formal training. Although I had many still life ideas for the Curves challenge, at the last minute went with my heart and threw out all of my previous experiments. I can see the earlier ideas would have fit in better. I too look forward to hearing any comments, good or bad. Thanks!!

Yet another newbie here. No lurking, I hit this site today and said "its my bag baby". I have a bunch of older shots that I would love to submit but altas they're not allowed. So this site gives me the incentive to shoot some new shots. Unfortunately the weather here in Chicago has been crap as of late. I dont think I will be able to get in on the current challenge but I will try.

Who me? Aww shucks! Wait until this round of voting is over before you say that. ;)

I know what you mean about the weather Eddy. I live in Seattle, do I need to say more. but that's the challenging part of this. If you get creative I know you can think of all kinds of cool stuff to take picures of for this challenge. Remember, birds and other wildlife don't care if it raining, just bring a big umberella and protect your camera. Less people and distractions as well. Lot's of stuff can look cool in the rain, use it to your advantage. Of course there's tons of cool indoor shots as well. We'll look forward to seeing what you come up with, just don't pass on this round, be creative. Good luck.

Isn't there a rule that if you win 3 challenges you have to buy everyone pizza? or maybe a new camera????

Let's see, 500 members at $10.00 a pizza is about $5000. Yeah, that sounds about right. I like supreme deep dish and add jalepenos.

Curves is also my first entry! I have received 14 comments so far which I realy appreciate. Do you deliver pizza to South Africa?

This is interesting... I haven't seen any PIZZA photos in this challenge... That could have been an interesting shot... :)

It's a good thing I won't be winning this one, eh?
