The circle challenge was the first entry I submitted to dpc that was edited completely on my mac.

On my mac, the image looks saturated and fine, but when I came to work on my pc, it looked way too dark.

Is there any way I can see how the image I'm about to submit would look on a PC? I can't really submit entries and work on my images on my office PC :)

Thanks for anyone's help!,

well I have had the same problems before. With photography and also designs. The best thing is to use imageready (comes with photoshop) Open your image there. Then use image > adjustments, then gamma. Use the slider to show what it would look like on a PC or vice versa

Cheers

Macs and PCs have, by default, different gamma settings. A photo that looks right on a Mac will often look too dark on a PC. There is a little utility for Mac that will let you preview what an image will look like on a PC.

If you use photoshop, under View-->Proof Setup, you can select Mac or PC RGB to view how your photo will appear on the other platform.

What strangeghost said, sort of...

Change your Proof Setup to Monitor RGB or PC RGB to "preview" how your image will appear on DPC. Do all of your editing with this preview, then choose Save for Web. Change the image quality setting until your file size is just under 150kb and save it with a new file name (never replace your original). Now upload that file to DPC and it will match.

Isnt that what strangehost said??? Basically adjust your image to look great on both platforms then save.

Yes, except that I use Monitor RGB (which he didn't list), and I wanted to emphasize that the proof setup should be changed before you do any editing and that Save for Web should be used as the final step.

Shannon is a stickler for accuracy.

I did mean that it is best to set your proof setup on - at minimum - Monitor RGB, and leave it there. This will allow you, during editing, to get the best possible compromise between the two platforms. An argument could be made to set it at Windows RGB and leave it there since over 9 out of 10 DPC user are looking at monitors driven by Windows machines (my own estimate, no data).
