Being the newb I am, I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions, comments or words of wisdom regarding various 'online' programs that teach photography.

A friend of mine brought up one in particular (which I won't mention), but I was wondering the best way to tell if it is a legit operation or not?

Any advice or wisdom would be welcomed!!! Thank you!

Below is the thread I started about New York Institute of Photography. I don't know if it is considered an "online school" now. I took the film course awhile back. You can read more about it in the thread. Website is www.nyip.com, There's other info there about other schools too.

Actually right now DPC is my "school" of choice. After you're here for a while you'll understand. Right now we have people who are volunteer memberships "teaching class" in the Out and About Forum. Ask if they have room for you in whichever class interest you. It doesn't cost anymore than being here.

I have taken several classes through Betterphoto.com and I was a newby when I first started. I have learned a lot, but still have a ways to go. NYIP is about $2500 or maybe a little more.

I took the film course of NYIP a couple of years back and it was only around $600.00 -if you paid in full) It's hard to believe they would jump their prices that much in that time. Are you sure about the $2500?

When I last looked (which wasn't all that long ago) the courses ran around $800. I wonder if the $2500 is for a bundled package containing several courses.
