For those of you who have not visited a "Wiki", here is a quick deffinition (or you may take a look at WikiPedia):

"A wiki enables documents to be written collectively (co-authoring) in a simple markup language using a web browser. A single page in a wiki is referred to as a "wiki page", while the entire body of pages, which are usually highly interconnected via hyperlinks, is called "the wiki"; in effect, a very simple database.

A defining characteristic of wiki technology is the ease with which pages can be created and updated. Generally, there is no review before modifications are accepted. Most wikis are open to the general public without the need to register any user account. Sometimes session log-in is requested to acquire a "wiki-signature" cookie for autosigning edits. More private wiki servers require user authentication."

I just thought that a lot of the Photographic knowledge out there is mostly containted in the heads of individuals. So I took the liberty of creating a wiki, just to see if there was any interest. So as such, there is very little content. You can check it out at //fragme.org/photowiki.

Let me know what you think, and see if you think I should just delete it or wether I should go ahead and try to get more content.

I say go ahead and try to get more content. There can never be too many photography information places on the web.

I took the liberty of adding a Sunday through Saturday list of Photo Blog Challenges (and moved Photo Friday into this section, from the Contest section). I apologize if this change was not welcome/needed. I wasn't exactly sure how to add categories/lists on a separate page.

I'm surprised that there is not another Photo Wiki out there - I kind of thought that there was.. I wasn't able to find it, but can anyone confirm this?

You just make a link to the site with a new page name

like

[//fragme.org/photowiki/index.php/Page_name LinkText]

Page_name will be the title of the page, "Page name"
LinkText will be on the page you are editing and open the new page.

you can just make the link and save it and then click on it and edit the new page.

I was looking at the wiki pages, ie. wikipedia. There is alot of effort being done in the wiki community. Alot of information about everything written by the users.

brianlh: I'm glad you did, that is the main reason I made a wiki out of it, so that this community or anyone that just stumbles onto the page can add information to it.

siggi: Thanks for the additions, and if you just want to link to a page within the wiki you can just do [[Page_name]]

np...

Also since, Domain names are pathetically cheap right now, I went ahead and registered //photowiki.info/ ... If you can't reach it now, it should work in 2-3 days.
