It's an assasain bug nymph. Be careful, they bite.

You can get an ID at insectnet.com

Been doing some research this is a wheel bug, it is a type of assasin bug. It uses it stinger to inject poison into its victims, then it sucks out there liquified insides. If you see one dont touch it, because it hurts worse than a Bee Sting. Ouch! Have to rember to check inside my shoes in the morning. But it does kill most smaller bugs sround your house.

Travis

P.S. I've been working on getting a photo of one killing another bug. I got close but not a whole lot of detail.

Here's another good site for insect ID. Does this guy look like your bug? If you let it go in your garden, it will eat a lot of harmful insects.

P.S. Travis, I have kept them successfully as pets. They will eat in captivity if you give them something appetizing.

Been there many times and I love BugGuide.net! Must be that geeky class of entomology in college I took, but...COOL!
Hi Roxanne! Did you know that where we grew up there is a certain bug that the Native Americans used as an aphrodisiac? If I only knew then what I know now! :)

No Tracy, I didn't know that. What is it?

I got hooked oninsects in my 6th grade entomology class. Made over $300.00 last summer selling these guys on the internet.

Strategus Antaeus by Gary Lackie.

Wish I could take credit for that picture but it's from a really cool photographer in Alaska who keeps them as pets.
