Deapee...I was really hoping to work with you as comentor in the Basics group as I admire your photography and think I could learn from you as well. I'm hoping you will reconsider your position and return. Let's see if a Nikon guy and an Olympus guy can get along and make for a really great group.

I have a question that I'm pretty sure I already read, but I don't remember an answer being given. If this takes off the way we all hope it will, are we going to be able to switch to a new group once we've learned from one? For instance, I'm starting in the exposure group (thank goodness for that! I definitely need the help)but I'd also like to learn more about the other groups, such as portrait and black and white. Do you have a plan put in place for that, or am I jumping the gun here?
Before I forget, thanks to aboutimage for this idea. I can't wait to get started. I have so much to learn and there are so many great photographers on this site. This is gonna be a blast!

Very pleased to announce yet another mentor and mentorship subject!

nico_blue will be mentoring "Digital Color". Here is an explanation of the subject:

"I will teach things like duo/tri/quad toning, converting to and from black and white, altering colors, manual coloring, selective desaturation and lots of other crazy things involving color. My only requirement would be that people have photoshop as I am completely unfamiliar with any other program."

If you're interested, please PM me.

Well, you're jumping the gun a little bit, but only because we've not really started teaching the first group. At some point in time, your question certainly must be addressed. I will think on it, and I'm sure the mentors will, too.

Another question: Is it possible to join more than one group at the same time (space permitting)?

As long as you feel you will be able to keep up with both mentors at the same time.

OK...well, a few people have PM'd me and I really appreciate it. I will be a co-mentor as long as it's still available. But Olyuzi is the main guy, I'll the backup.

That's really great deapee! I'm very happy you've reconsidered and I'm looking forward to working with you. Two heads are always better than one.

I am glad I was still surfing the site. I had not planned on returning very much to the site or photography for that matter.

I do not care which group am placed in. I am just a novice and could use any help in any format.

Will have to try and get my profile back to being updated.

See my profile for group information. It also contains a direct link to each mentor and each discussion group's thread.

Mentors, have at it!!

P.S. The groups are getting full. Nico_blue's group is brand new and has a couple available slots. The rest are pretty full. If you still want to join in the fun, PM the mentor first. If he/she is comfortable with another member, then PM me as a courtesy so I can update the master list.

Dude, I think the whole concept that you got going is/is going to be a cool one and great idea for those seeking help...

I understand that you are just getting it going with all the thread legalease and start up and all but I'm kind of hoping that the whole DPC mentorship threads don't monopolize the front page new forum posts all the time.

Yes I could go in and ignore each one but I don't really want to do that either.

I hope you're right, too. We were hoping for a "private forum", and we may get one if this concept takes off.

If you're going to run that many threads concurrently, we might have to create a new hidable section, or they'll continually knock all other timely threads off the front page. Two-to-five might be manageable; 8-12 like it's shaping up is too many ... in my opinion ...

Is there a possibility of having more than one group for each subject? I'd like to join a portrait and maybe a natural light group but alas, I have been out wandering in the night dessert lately and didn't get a chance to join. Thanks.

You need to talk to SC or drew/langdon to have them make the initial "rules" post be a sticky post, if possible, so it stays at the top of the page. I know topics can be made sticky, I'm not sure about posts within topics.

I completely agree!!! I for one never go into the forum sections, and just look at the ones on the front page.

We have room for you in Natural Light if you're interested.

I can see that this may well become a problem, yeah. Any way to keep these threads from showing on the front page altogether?

David I just noticed I am listed under 2 groups. If you remove me from candid and leave me in action you might be able to put another person in the candid group. Thanks.

The rules sound great, and as to what group I'm in, I need help in all areas, so put me wherever you need to.
