It should make us all proud to be part of something with so many incredibly talented people. When your photo does well or even not so well in a challenge you know that you accomplished something against some of the best in the business.

Congratulations to our own GordonMcGregor for having his Photo "!"Waiting for Bats"" which finished sixth in the "Corner of the World" challenge chosen to air tonight on the KVUE News at 10 in Austin, Texas. Another feather in his already full cap!

Are they really waiting for bats?

Yup - Quite a lot of them too!

There are about 1.5 million bats that live under that bridge, at
the height of the breeding season.

And thanks to Doug Paz - featured Kodak artist of the moment, with
his picture to be shown in Time Square, October 10th!

Congrats Gordon! :) should be fun to see it on TV.

I was stationed with the Air Force in San Antonio. The bats taking off in the evening were so numerous that they show up on radar. You could always tell when evening occurred as a big fuzzy cloud popped up on some of the radar screens an then dispersed.

How did you get there gordon ( I mean independantly of the merit of the picture by itself ? )
And that's TOP OF THE TOP Gordon

Any chance you can get an MPEG off it?

That's really great Gordon. I'm happy for you. I wish I could see it somehow. However, A year or two ago I did see some TV coverage of that place. It was unbelievable watching the bats coming, endlessly, out from under the bridge.

Apologies for the vanity posting :

It was cool to have my 10 seconds of fame :)

They run a daily photo competition through the web site at
www.kvue.com for the weather, so I just submitted. This is the
second time I've had a pic selected.

It must be nice to have your name broadcast on TV right above the word 'snapshot' :o)

Seriously though, it's a great shot - congrats on getting it aired!

That's Awesome Gordon. Cool shots of the tube too. I wonder if anyone will be in Times Square tomorrow when my Kodak Photo of the Day is supposed to be shown. If anyone is around there I sure would appreciate it. Here is the photo that is to be shown:

SO where/ how does it get shown, Doug ? Is it on a billboard, a
TV screen, or what ? I could see it on a huge billboard - now that
would be cool!

It's supposed to be shown every few seconds on a Kodak sign in Times Square. I envision a TV like screen or something. I don't know for sure. It is also going to be the photo all day on their website.

I could definitely be wrong... but I may have seen Doug's owl picture pop up at 10:11 a.m. ET on the Times Square Cam. I wouldn't swear on a Bible to it, though... the picture occupies about a quarter of the screen it's being shown on.
