the slight blur on the sphere prevented me from entering this, was a crop of a larger image also - not sure if that would have mattered or not?

no editing on this either, just desaturation - the `speed lines` are from the blur of the droplet falling.

That's a really cool shot! I really like the "speed lines".

This is one of my outtakes - some say it looks like fireworks.

It's pretty sharp, I like it. I would rate it maybe a 6 or 7 (that's a high score from me). It's more impressive knowing that it's actually a falling drop of water. It would be cool if the motion blur was even more apparent, because the action is stopped so well.

It's a pretty cool shot. High 5 to low 6 would be my guess on how it would have scored.

Kinda hard to tell what it is at first glance. JMO. Considering that it's a drop of falling water the very slight blur probably would have been ok. The lighting seems a little hot.

Now I curious as to what you DID enter. ;^)

thats neat, what is it? almost looks like liquid, as the black points seem to be swimming around...

It is a blossom on a tree that I photographed at the Rio Grande Botanic Gardens. Used my Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro lense at f/2.8. I focused (handheld) on the tips of the points of the shoots. The entire blossom was about 2-3 inches in size.

This was my first time ever taking anything close to macro, and really enjoyed it. I picked up some cheap close-up lenses for my EF 50mm f1.8, and couldn't shoot anything metal or of high contrast due to CA, but here are my two outakes:

both of these were taken with the macro challenge in mind. i thought i had another better entry. i kept hearing peeps say how much they didnt want to see another bug, flower or water macro so i went with an orginal idea. wish i had went with one of these 2 instead. hindsight is 20/20

Almost went with this one...in retrospect I perhaps should have. Ah well.

This one was up for contention as well.. but the bug made the final cut.

It came down to this one or the one I used for me...

Well I was debating on wheter to put this shot in the challenge as I thought it might score higher than the one I did put in but personally I liked the shot I entered much better so it was an easy choice.

My favorite... changed my mind at the last moment. No, I don't know why. I think it would have done better.;-)

I almost entered this one over my entry

Both are pretty abstract, think I made the right choice?
