I think this challenge is perfect for shooting some creative and provocative images. I'm challenging everyone here to think hard about this one. Don't settle for the first thing that pops into your head, there's always something better. I'M TIRED OF SEEING OBVIOUS PHOTOS. I want to see something SHOCKING or THOUGHT PROVOKING. I'm warning everyone right now: if I see a stack of Playboys, I'm giving it a 1. If I see a pile of money on a table, I'm giving it a 1.
I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just trying to light a fire under our asses! (note to self: fire under an ass would be a great picture)
So get out there and start sinning!!! |

| I really dont think you playing "coach" is gonna get people to start taking the pictures you like to see. I'm grouchy this morning so I'll say no more. |

But the challenge doesn't say anything about having to be creative.
It just says I have to take it this week.... isn't that enough ?

I know i AM going to try to shoot something that is not LUST! I think that LUST would be one of the easier of the sins .. so i'm gonna give myself even more of a challenge and have fun with it :)

i'm half expecting everyone to do lust, and for there to be a lot of nudity in this challenge. i've been watching for a few rounds, but haven't submitted anything yet. not sure my style would exactly fit in here.
i have yet to come with a good idea for this one. |

Finding an idea for this challenge is not going to be easy. A little reading about the history and origin of the seven deadly sins should shine some light on the subject. There are several different ways you could represent the challenge topic here. You could work with the 'sin' itself or one of the historical representations of the sin. These sins have been portrayed in many works of art over the ages...

Talk about irony. I was one of those that suggested this challenge and I have nothing. . . nada. . . zilch. . . in the way of an idea for a submission.
At the rate I'm going I should be able to do a self portrait by the end of the week and submit it as wrath. . . ARRRRGGGHHH!!!

that was the first thing i thought of, actually.
i'm trying to find some famous art for inspiration. all i can find is one by bosch, which isn't very helpful. (damn you william blake and joel-peter witkin for not doing the 7 deadly sins) |

Sure it's enough if you want to enter and get a score, but the whole purpose of putting a photo on the web and especially in a contest like this is to recieve feedback, whether it be in the form of comments or a rating. The idea is to then take what you've learned and go take better photos. The curve is steep here, but the scoring is just a fraction of what this site is about. IMO an image that gets a low score but generates many comments or a little controversy is just as good as the winner. I'm just trying to let people know what I feel makes a good photo and to get people to think before they submit.
LOL, am I making any sense? My thoughts are a mess :) |

yes John .. but if you take a specific representation of the Sin it will be more hard for people to get it ... or we are going to have title like "Yes I lust for my remote control, event if iot's trash it is my corner"
I think we cannot expect people to have even read the introduction explained in the link. But I think this week I am going to be creative , I have one idea ... and it is not lust ... he he he ....
Am I producing 'envy' in your guys ? ;-) ;-) ;-)

actually, i promise i won't photograph dead or deformed people for the contest. mostly cause i don't have access to that sort of thing... |

I can sympathise - I had the same problem with the 'corner of the
world' challenge - seemed like a good idea at the time, until I realised
wait - I have to find one too ?

I'm taking photos of my feet while laying on the couch. And I'm not even going to bother to frame it or adjust the lighting.
How's that for a slothiness?

So who is going to do a happy theme versus a not-so-happy theme? Let's take a vote!!!
:) let's hear it. You can create a Lust photo that is of a happy theme (Lust for knowledge, for example, is positive) or if you keep strictly to the challenge, then it'll be a dark theme i guess. not sure if you can create a happy theme for Wraith or Sloth or Gluttony, but i suppose a bunch of drunk guys watching a football game might be a happy theme!!
Me <--- dark theme, naturally. It's gonna be a shocker, my initial "proofs" of the image I did tonight looks decent but i am going to change the lighting.
