I have just been marking and commenting the GLASS images and it suddenly occurred to me "what did the image look like as it left the camera?". I am a really nove user of imaging software and all I have really learnt how to do is resize it and sometimes a bit of sharpening as per the tutorial in the learning section of DP Challenge.

I would really find it interesting if for 1 week we could have a before and after set of shots showing original images and then crops and enhancements side by side. Would anyone else like this. I figure I could really learn a lot from this.

That would be an excellent idea for amatuers and experienced alike!

That would be great, but, I thought we weren't allowed to do enhancements in a challenge...
I guess I'd better go read the rules, again!

There are are lot of "legal" things you can do to enhance an image, including crop/rotate, tone adjustments (Levels/Curves), color adjustments, grayscale/duotone, sharpening, blurring, noise reduction, etc. The major limitation is that these must be applied globally to the entire image, not to selected portions.

There are many EFFECTS (usually filters) which are NOT legal, and techniques such as layering and compositing images is usually prohibited. Some of these may be allowed for specific challenges, so always read the "extra rules" with each challenge as well as reviewing the general rules.
