This is great! Answers those little questions of how to do something in the forum.

wonderful, bod!

You should add a line in there about "first create a thumbnail to use as your clickable thumbnail" for the dimmer ones among us (like me) who thought for a moment "where do I get the thumbnail from?" Probably goes without saying you have to make one first, but to keep it totally clear. might as well say something about it.

LOL. Good point!
Though if the image is in your portfolio you can use the site generated thumbnail (right click the thumbnail & select properties to get the URL).

Excellent toutorial bod. I was wondering about some of those things just today as a matter of fact.

LOL ... talk about perfect timing. I tried for a while yesterday to post a new photo to a forum ... never thought to get the exact URL through properties ... DUH!

Thanks for the tutorial :)

And just for kicks ... here are the two pix I took yesterday ... :)

It's a useful tutorial this, but it doesn't make clear that, when embedding images, the URL can't be a DPC one. I've tried embedding images (as others have too) but when linking to DPC portfolio entries the links always break. What is the reason for this? Apologies if this repeats other queries.

If you are embedding an image you have to make sure the url is the IMAGE url and NOT the PAGE url. That means if it doesnt end in .jpg or .gif you're using the wrong one.

Sorry, I'm being really thick here, but if I go to the page containing the image I want, such as this:
//www.dpchallenge.com/image.php?IMAGE_ID=28867
- how do I then select an image link from it?

Methinks I need to clarify the tutorial a bit : )

Once you're on the image page, right click the image and select properties - from here you can copy the URL of the actual jpeg which is what you need.

O.K., I'm old and this is all a new language to me. I can't seem to get the forum code to work in my signature. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong to get that neat little link to DPCPrints? Also, even though I've read this several times, my brain can't seem to grasp how to link to my portfolio at DPChallenge. Help!!! Thanks in advance :)

url=//ancientimages.dpcprints.com/]My Prints[/url]

Please add a [ to the front of the url and add it to your preferences and save.

I think the problem with your current one is the added "." in front of your username and the missing "p" in dpcprints :)

Thank you. Trying it again. (I got rid of the added ".", but it still doesn't seem to work when I click on the link). ((And added the missing "p" -- I USED to have a brain))
