My father in law found this guy in the pool skimmer today. He took the picture (a little far away) and sent it to me. I cropped and resized to get the snake a bit larger. Does anyone know what kind of snake it is?

No...Milk Snakes are usually striped. This is more likely some flavour of Corn Snake. Where does your dad live?

Beautiful Snake...too bad about the skimmer.

It could an Eastern Milk Snake, kinda hard to tell. the brown "saddles" are characteristic of that snake, but they are kinda closely spaced on this specimen. Still there is variation between individuals.

I think that one is my favourite right after Amburgers and Wootbeer

That is definately not just your average wild rat snake. The only way to get a color pattern like that is through bredding of two different species of rat snakes. It looks like a cross between an okeetee corn snake and a rosy rat snake (Both are considered rat snakes though, although more commonly referred to as just a corn snake).

It looks like some of the juvenile Eastern Milk Snakes I have seen on my own property here in Ohio. I say juvenile because the markings seem somewhat saddle-like but are thinner than on an mature adult specimen. Its hard to see how long it is from the picture to tell if it is a young one or not. I don't believe I have seen a Red Milk Snake before but from the pics I have seen on websites the markings look mroe ring-like than saddle-like on the Eastern Milk Snake. Here is a link to Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources with a photo for comparison.

The snake has been soaking for God knows how long in a pool skimmer which may or may not have chlorine or some other wonderful chemical in it. The color of the snake before it drowned was probably much different.
