If I am looking for a good digital...not cheap,(but not my whole 401K fund either)What type should I look at? I know with Cannon's you can interchange lenses from the digital to the 35mm, which I kinda like that. I like to shoot with film alot...and what is a digital SLR? I may be dumb, but I thought SLR was just for film cameras. Just wanted to get some advice from those who know....

SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex and as with a film SLR a dSLR allows you to look directly through the lens. dSLR's are typically the only ones you can get interchangeable lenses for, so they offer more flexibility, but also have a much higher learning curve. If you are just starting out, there are some really good point and shoot cameras - get one that is over 5MP.

I'll let other, more expert folks make specific recommendations. :)

a used 10D (600-700) or a new rebel XT(899) would be a great start! 20d (1300) if you're willing to spend a little more or a 300D (400-500) if you want to spend a little less.

What exactly is the EOS on the Cannon...are they all EOS?

No, this is only for the newer autofocus lenses. There are older mounts such as FD which you need a converter to use on an EOS body.
