Hi all,

It's been a while since I've been here, good to see things are still active. I've put up a site showing some of my photos, not particularly to attract work, mainly just to get feedback and develop my style and techniques. Plus, it was a nice weekend PHP project, putting the site together. :)

My main interest lies in fashion photography, but I take my camera everywhere and am always on the lookout for that "good shot". Other than that, I love black and white, and I'm not afraid of a little blurriness. ;) Feel free to post any comments here or in the individual photo comment areas on the site.

Great job! I like that the portfolio loads into the main pages. It's afst as well. Loved your black and white work - particularly 012.

Chris, Great stuff. I think you are doing good. I really like the black and whites.
I really like the sight. Very professional.

This is one of the better designed, more professional looking sites I've seen posted here. I have just a small nitpick which is mostly a matter of personal preference. I like how the photos load to the right of the main page, but when clicking back and forth, I wish that only that section reloaded, rather than the entire page since the information on the left and top and bottom graphics are the same.

I'm with mk on all counts. As far as the 'blurs' are concerned, we don't see them as often anymore. Perhaps it's easier 'today' to hold an appetite?

I'd probably have to agree with mk about the reloading too. I noticed the site includes PHP, not exactly sure how you have it set up, but you could use an iframe for the photogallery section, and have that be on a seperate PHP File. that way only the gallery section would have to reload.

All in all though I think the site is fabulous in design. Looks great. Functionally you might want to make it capable of including captions on the pictures. (if you did the php yourself you'll allready know that'd be easy) If you didn't do the php yourself I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Thanks for all the great comments so far!

Regarding using an iframe: eventually, rather than having the "news" comments appear on each page, I'd like to be able to put a commentary and whatever expanded notes about the currently viewed photo. I always find other people's photo explanations useful and interesting, so I'm hoping mine are too. :)

As far as captions, each photo can have a title and notes associated with it. It usually takes me a little while to title all of them, usually when I need to refer to it and don't want to just say its number. :) The notes will also grow over time, and eventually I'll have the whole left area as photo notes and information.

Again, thanks for the comments!

Chris,

Like the site. As mentioned before, a lot more clean looking than most...

Pics: A few were pushed too high on the contrast for my taste, like the vet and some of the card decks. This might actually be worth noting, because I'm usually over the edge myself with the contrast. Good news is I thought the best shots were the ones that actually got used for the client. I really liked Vintage Dress on the park bench. Your girl is gorgeous also.
