I'm flipping out! Through a crazy set of circumstances, I’m this close (indicates a tiny little space with fingers) to buying my first house (one I would in normal circumstances not be able to afford for at least another 5 to 6 years)

There is an unfortunate story for the current owner as to why they have to give up their home, which had me a little upset on their behalf. However, I just found it looks like things are going to work out for the better for them, so I’m feeling free to start getting excited at my own good fortune.

Now it’s just a matter of waiting until I get the official word, then a home inspection (which is more a formality) and it’s mine. So everyone cross your fingers for me. I promise if it goes through to give the complete story and lots of pictures – I have big plans and there’s a lot of things I want to fix up!! Think before and after shots.

Now if you excuse me I have to go watch the Home Improvement channel. (Right after I do the Snoopy dance on the coffee table)

Ooh, good luck! We just bought our first home with a backup offer after they'd already accepted an offer so I will pass on our good luck to you.

Wow sweet, reminds me of last year when my family came this close *makes little space with fingers* to buying a dream house; but my mom had to go all paranoid and cancel the whole thing at the last last second grrrr. This apartment is a dump lol.

Very cool, we bought our house about five years ago and just got done with an addition project, nothing better than having a place to call your own. I wish you the best of luck!

you know, I wish you the best of luck. Your post however reminded me of the movie "the Money Pit" if you haven't seen it, you really should. Tom Hanks buys a house because a woman has some horrible thing happen to her husband. This allows him to purchase this really, really large house. From there the madness ensues. hehe. You would not believe how many things go wrong. Anyway, best of luck to you.

lol.

Thanks for all the well wishes guys. LOL and I have seen the money pit - thanks a lot for the reminder, something to be paranoid about. =)

I just bought my first house on my own, my third overall. It's a scary venture, but what a wonderful feeling. As for the "Money Pit", I watched that movie for the first time about a month ago, which would have been about 2 weeks after I moved in. Honestly, it ain't that bad. But when buying someone else's house, you have to be so very careful, cus they will hide every little flaw there is. All I can say is spend a couple hundred bucks and get an inspection. I promise you, it will pay for itself over and over and over again. Do It! Good luck and send out lots of pictures of your new home! Cheers!
