Hi guys. This is Cristin's Dad, Eric. I used her login b/c I haven't created one for myself yet.
She's gone camping/photographing with her grandparents and will be off the net for another few days. She'll no doubt post some pictures when she gets back. I may post some of mine as well.
I went on a recon sunday afternoon to silver falls state park. It has ten waterfalls all in walking distance of each other. I only went to two, but there was plenty of potential. It is a little drive from our place, but we'd be glad to host. Throw some dates around and let me know. I have a few times taken up (last week of July probably) but for the most part my schedule is open.
Long live silver halide (until I get a DSLR anyway)!
Grace and Truth,
Eric

Hi Eric! Hey it was great meeting you and Cristin at the get-together. It was really a fun day for us, and I would love to go shooting with you guys again. I'm not sure where Silver Falls is, but it sounds like a nice place. I would love to go, and I think Becky will want to go too. She told me several times on the way home that she really enjoyed the outing with all of the 'Oregon Gang.'

I'm looking forward to seeing some of your, and Cristin's, photos. By all means post 'em up here when you can.

I might be able to make it if they still let us Washingtonian's into Oregon. I'll mark this thread and keep an eye on how it goes.

Oooo, don't let my wife hear you say that. :) I'm a native, but she's... one of them. :)

I feel for you JB. But, since she's with you I suppose we could let her in on a time-limited pass. :)

Silver Creek Falls is about a marathon (26.3 miles) east of Salem and a few miles south of Silverton in the foothills of the Cascades and a wonderful photo opportunity. Most of the waterfalls are in deep shade so take your tripod.

OK everyone Eric here again
sounds like the interest is there. what does everyone think about dates?
BTW I'm a native who married "one of them" as well. I prefer to think of it as rescuing her to something better...
As to photography, I'll echo the tripod. I needed it Saturday too. I had some potentially great shots that weren't crisp because you can't hand hold a 1/30th shutter speed and us old-school silver halide guys can't change iso midstream. Sigh.
Let us know what y'all are thinking about dates

I've only been to Silver Falls once, and it was in between a noon and afternoon event, so we didn't have much time. But we did shoot some images.

I'm guessing Saturday, July 30th would work out best for us. Another Saturday, and Eric would have to take time off work. We could do that if we had to.
If y'all want to come to our house, we were thinking a noon BBQ and then a drive out to the falls might work.

I'm fairly new to DPC, but I'd love to attend a GTG, and July 30 would work for me. I'm game to drive pretty much anywhere in Oregon (my car runs on used cooking oil from the university kitchen, so my fuel costs are almost zero :) ) -- is it going to be Silver Falls?

We actually live in Colton, which is not far from Silver Falls. We will gladly host a BBQ here and then lead the caravan to Silver Falls. We also have plenty of room in our van if anyone wants a ride from here to there.

You can PM me or Cristin for directions to our house, or check out our website. There is a mapquest link to the church address - we live in the parsonage directly behind the church. //www.coltoncommunity.org

TooCool,
Are you talking about Detroit, MI, or Detroit, OR? I've been to Detroit Lake many times. It's a bit of a drive, but not too far away.

July 30th works for me. I'll have to see if my Dad is up to anything that day.
