Hi there! I hope it's okay to post this here. I have gotten to know so many of you well, so I think it's okay to ask for help.

My son was in a coma last week diagnosed with diabetes. If any of you are diabetic, his blood sugar was 983, the highest the hospital has ever seen. We brought him home this week, and he's doing great! I am humbly asking for prayers, actually. If you are the praying type, or if you would just like to send some good thoughts our way, I would really appreciate it!

Jordan is 7 years old, and having a tough time adjusting to all the changes. If you could just pray for him to have courage, it would mean alot to me!

Thanks so much,

Tara

PS: This thread is not meant to offend any non-Christians. As I said, just a kind thought would make our day. Thanks again.

Tara - I'm non-christian and don't pray, but you can happily have my thoughts. The blood sugar levels I'm used to suggest staying under 10 - if we are talking the same scale then 983 is astronomical.

Good luck to both Jordan and yourself.

Please let us know how he is doing!
Hugs to you, Jordan and your family!

I'm not a cristian too, but my thought is with you there. My mom also got diabetes but in the early stages. So taking care of what she eats is important.

983 American scale is about 60 in everyone else's glucose scales. That IS astronomical. As a diabetic myself, I have had serious episodes whem my sugars are just in the high teens!

My very best wishes are with Jordan.

Dear Tara, here is a blessing for Jordan: " Little one, don't be afraid. With the Lord all things are possible as He promised us. Trust and know that He will hear your prayers." Your family is in our hearts and I know without doubt our prayers will be heard and acted upon. In times like these it is difficult to hang onto faith, but you must remember that faith and prayer are very powerful tools. Go in peace and know that we at DPChallenge are part of your family and we are giving you our strength and love.

Tara,

I don't think we have met yet, but I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your son. This will be a difficult time for you as you learn how to cope with the dreaded disease of diabetes. I'm a registered nurse and understand the difficulties that you are and will be facing. You and especially your son will have to learn a whole new lifestyle of eating, exercise, checking blood sugar levels and insulin administration. Keep strong, be patient, and learn all that you can.

Im not Christian either, I'm a Unitarian so will light a candle for you.. My daughter in law is diabetic too and in hospital awaiting the birth of her and my son's first child... how wonderful that the photographers here are also such caring people!

Another non religious person here, though by that I mean that I don't follow or belong to any specific religion. I do have my own spiritual beliefs and will be thinking of your son and hoping for the very best for him.

With love and warmth from friends and strangers around the world,

Tara,

That must be heart-wrenching, especially when he was in a coma in the hospital. I'm so glad he's home now, although I'm sure you have some difficult times ahead. My friend recently had a 2nd child diagnosed with this horrid disease. Your neighbor here in Utah sends thoughts and prayers your way. Take care of yourself while you're caring for him!

Thanks so much everybody! Jordan is sitting here next to me and saw all of your replys! He said "Wow, it looks like I'm famous!" He loved the picture of spongebob on hbunch's reply.

Thanks again - it's wonderful to know that there are really good PEOPLE here, not just good photographers. Your prayers and thoughts are heard and felt, and we truly appreciate it!

Dear Tara,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I was very sad when I read your post, just keep an open mind, and an open heart. To Jordan: if you pay attention to what you eat, and excercise properly things will be just fine... have an open mind... and enjoy everything in life... To the family - take care... Once again... my best wishes!

Tara, Count my prayers among the others. Also, I have passed this along to some others that I know will pray for him as well.

Hang tight little guy!

Hi Tara, through Karmat, I found out about little Jordan and you can be sure that there are several on our Christian Photographers site that are and will be praying for little Jordan.

Hi Tara,
I'm glad to hear Jordan is home and doing well. Now that the condition has been diagnosed, with correct handling, I'm sure he'll be just fine.
Best wishes to you both,
Gina

I'm so glad Jordan is back home and feeling better.

I think we have to be careful to state that diabetes is not a "terrible" or "dreadful" disease that consigns one to an awful life. Generally speaking, it is perfectly manageable with only the most sensible changes to one's lifestyle. I have "suffered" from it for some years now and all it means to me, frankly, is that I have to give a little bit more thought to my eating patterns; thought I should have given to my health anyway! That and the little holes in my fingers from the testing every day!

Good luck, Jordan. My thoughts are with you.

Hang in there Tara. I hope everything works out for you guys. My wife has seizures so I know what it is to have someone who is having health problems. Actually I just got back from the hospital. Her work called this afternoon saying she had a seizure on the job. Had to go get her and take her to emergency. It's fairly routine for me now but it never gets easier watching someone you love go through something like that. I really understand how you feel.

Regards,

Owen
