I'm participating in an exhibition which starts next WE. It shall give young artists a chance to show their work. I can exhibit 5 images, which I will have printed at 30x20cm. I have already chosen 4 images:
*Spice Up Your Life!
*Frames
*Guardians
and
*Horus' Throne, which I will reshoot, so any further suggestions are welcome. I'll probably go for a landscape oriented crop like this.

Help me choose the fifth among these:

Thank you very much!

Edit: The weird face with the tree house photograph has been fixed.

I really love the first one. Focus are really great and I like the contrast between the silhouette and the green colour. That´s amazing.

I really like the novelty of 'A Clockwork Orange'.

1-1... which will win? More opinions to gloda, please!!!!

Hmmm, I really like the ones you've already chosen. Very nice selections. As for the last, I like the first, last and second in that order. But they are all very nice.

I like 'y' the best. Beautiful image.

Some amazing work there! I love Horus' Throne and the shot on the bridge with the two people looking away from each other.

I definately prefer the Y - I thought it was amasing in the challenge when I first seen it and still feel that way. I'd personally "eliminate" the great gear and L'Eiffel des ponts candidates. Good luck, I'm sure you'll do well with whatever image you choose.

I should prefer the scorpion or the bridge. The atmosphere of the bridge works very well. The scorpion speaks for itself. Do you want creativity or "perfection". Bridge: lets you explore the image. Scorpion: lets you admire the quality.

Clockwork Orange

I've looked at the other 4 photo's that you are submitting and a common theme that I am picking up on is your sense of artistic ability to look at a potential photograph subject and take it one step further. I imagine that when you are taking your pictures and setting up your subject that you have the ability to envision it in print already which is an amazing talent to have. You seem to caputre the artistic values of light, texture and shape... and with that being said I feel that you should enter the bridge shot at night. I know you commented on the distortion of the buildings off in the left, but I think that it flows with the whole creativness of the photo. I also feel that if you submitted the bridge that it would flow with the rest of your images in your exhibition maintaining continuity from an artistic perspective! Good luck and AMAZING work!
cheers!

Thanks for all the compliments and suggestions so far. I feel flattered. For what jasm said about continuity: Maybe I should add that I have only 2,5 metres of wall space for my images. They will be pretty close to each other.

Some more opinions on which to chose, or which not to chose, anyone?

I like them all, but I like the first one ("Y") the best. Each of the others has some minor element that would maybe distract the viewer, but I think the Y one is done perfectly. Good luck!

I like 'A Clockwork Orange' as your final pick. It shows fun and creativity that is sure to go over well with the audience of this event. Whatever you choose, I'm sure you will do well. Have fun!

Bump. I can't decide yet :)

You know the more opinions you get the harder it will be to decide as there will be a more likelyhood of a tie.

Hehe. That may be true, but since I can't make up my mind, I need some hints. I will have to proceed by exclusion, anyway. That means that every opinion is valuable to me.

Th photo of the person with cards appeals to me the most. Creative use of lighting and color. I hope you do well and best of luck.

I like the bridge the best, and the scorpion second best. The bridge photo has great colors and lighting. I could sit and look at it for a while, studying all of those great details.

Thanks for all your opinions, you gave me a good idea of what would(n't) work and why. I've made up my mind now.

"The Great Gear" doesn't catch enough attention, and it's partly out of focus and blown-out.
For "Some Call it Passion", I'll need my sisters permission and I'll end up with too many faces.
I won't take "L'Eiffel des Ponts" either, since I already have two rather dark images, and I would end up with 40% of images from Luxembourg City.
So there are only the scorpion and the orange left. I think "Spice Up Your Life" already shows that I've completely lost it, so I chose "y". It shows my technical skills, and it is a decent macro shot.

The fifth image:

Now I'll get into framing. The problem is that I can't expect to sell anything, and I have no use for the framed pictures myself. In the end, I'll have to spend at least 70€ :(

I find that a good way to use framed prints is to hang them on the wall. If your problem is lack of wall space, you need to get more wall space. You can do that either by improving the availability of existing wall space (take down whatever is on the walls at present), or by buying more walls. If the latter, you may have to wait a few years until you can afford more walls. But you will surely get there.

Now if you don't have enough storage space to keep the framed pics while you are waiting to buy more walls, only then do you have a problem!

Thanks legalbeagle, I think I still have some free ceilings :)

Here's what the pictures are gonna looks like. They are bordered right away on print, with the title below, my name in the upper left and the year in the upper right corner.
Now I need some opinions on how to arrange them.
Here's what I thought would look best:

In what order would you hang them on the wall? Just quote and rearrange the images as you like :)

They look pretty good the way you've arranged them in your post however you might try swapping the scorpian and the one on the other end. Only because I feel the shift from light to dark would flow better.

Like this:

... and the green in 'y' flows from the green in Guardians.

I second this arrangement, I think it looks really good like this. Very nice work too!

Ok well as the decision on what print has been made I can only third the opinion on the arranging.

I was also looking at "y" followed VERY closely by the orange clock.
