I landed a job with the local newspaper The North County Times as a stringer and my first assignment landed on the FRONT PAGE!!!! Although the story itself was bound for the front page it was nice to see my name and credits up there on my first attempt. I hope this is a good sign of things to come. By the way thank you VERY much for the replies to my newbie post. It's so nice to be welcomed by everyone.

Hmmmm.. North County Times.
I don't see a location in your portolio, but assume it's this North County Times
(My shop is in Escondido, and I live in Poway - I know the paper well)
Can you point us to the shot? Is it on this page?
I've done a bunch for the Poway News Chieftain (1/2 page front cover color too) and one for the SD Union-Tribune recently.
It's a great feeling isn't it!

You think that title was bad you should have seen the slug when it was e-mailed to me
Title: SOMDick
I thought it was a rookie prank but turned out that SOM stood for Student of Merit. Also on the front page we had Deep Throat exposed as a headline and Guajomes Dick on the same page. A little too close for me but hey I'm not the editor...yet. |
