I'm noticing a trend and am wondering if someone can confirm or deny this for me.

My decision photo started with a bang. As the challenge progressed, I've noticed many angry contestants complain about receiving negative comments. Then my rating started to drop--without any comments added.

Are angry contestants going back and punishing everyone?

Yes.

I'm absolutely joking...I haven't even looked at the "Decision" challenge.

At the end of the challenge, if angry voters voted low, the votes would get thrown out. There's some sort of monitoring going on behind the scenes.

It's not unusual for a score to drop during a challenge. Many voters start out by voting on the pictures they like the best, and then finishing their voting later. Other voters rate pix in the middle range, and then adjust up or down a point or two later in the week.

Commenters are likely put off from making constructive/"other than completely positive" comments after all the discussion you referred to.

I think your experience is a coincidence, rather than a group of angry people with nefarious purpose.
