The recent printer for sale thread reminded me that I am trying to find a way for my Epson R300m (now my wifes) to be printed to without it being tied down to a computer.

We have a g rated wireless router on a main system downstairs but she mostly uses it upstairs in her scraping room (no room for a regular desktop system up there) via her laptop. But there are times she is in different areas of the house or room and finds something she wants to print and doesn't want to have to rush up there and plug it in.

Does anyone know of a relatively cheap yet reliable (oxymoron?) wireless print server that can be hooked to a printer that only offers USB connections. I looked at this one from Epson //www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/ProductQuickSpec.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid=50899005&category=Networking+and+Connectivity but was hoping for something a little cheaper.

Thank you for any info you can give.

I can't specifically comment on the reliability of this particular print server, but i use a wired netgear server and have not had any problems at all.

You may be able to cut your costs further if you use a wired print server and connect it directly to your router, assuming that you have a free ethernet port on you router. With regard to makes, Belkin, 3com, netgear and linksys are all pretty good makes and should be reliable.

Hope this helps

A friend that is in the computer field recently mentioned that someone has come out with a netowrk to usb 'hub' - you plug it into the network anywhere and plug any USB printer into it (they work for adding a USB hard drive too). I don't think it is wireless, but perhaps they have that too?

EDIT: This is it
