I get a kick out of looking at this photo of my grandson and his Brittany. Am I just too personally involved or is this a really cute capture?

That is a really cute pic. I like the expression on the dogs face.

great pic! The kid couldn't look happier and the dog couldn't look less interested.

Very cute shot! As said above, I agree that the baby couldn't look more thrilled and that the dog couldn't look more "over it". LOL Thanks for the smile!

Yes, apparently in the States the AKC has officially changed the name from 'Brittany Spaniel' to 'Brittany.' Don't ask me why.

That photo transcends family ties so that all can appreciate, great work!

I would suggest that the crop be revisited, as well as the toning...this photo could be even more fantastic with a little more work.

I have to admit, I see black and white in it's future!

Again, it's a beautiful photo...

My parents have 2 Brittany's. One is 12 yrs old and the other is 2. Great dogs. I've heard they are not good with children, but I've seen no evidence of that. My parents dogs have seen many kids and have been great with them. I'm going to send them a link to your shot, which I've added to my favorites btw.

This is a great capture of a special moment. Good job.

Thanks for the kind comments. Actually this is a composite. I took two photos within about 30 seconds of each other. One was a very bad composition but it showed the great eye expression on the Brittany. The other was a much better photo but the expression on the dog wasn't nearly as good as the other. So I cloned the eyes from one photo into the eyes of the other.

Oh.

So this moment didn't really get captured. Well, it's cute art anyways...

Thanks for the suggestion about the toning. I will see what I can do in that area. I can't really see b&w working but perhaps a sepia version would work.
I would like to crop it better but I just don't see it. Any suggestions are welcome.

Even if it is a composite I would argue that it was, since the mood/feeling of the moment is still what is conveyed by the picture.

This Brittany is very good with the children. The one year old boy shown in the photo abuses the dog but the Brittany just takes anything that Ben dishes out. He is an active and excitable dog so he may knock the children over in his enthusiasm but otherwise he is very gentle with them. The dog is very, very expressive. Here is another photo of him that I have posted for the outside looking in challenge.

I agree with the above reply, it's all in the dog's eyes. Now that is what I call a look of tolerant suffering - obviously done lovingly. This is a fantastic image as is, but the fact that this is also a family picture means that it will always hold a special place in your heart. I say blow it up, frame it, and slap it on the mantle. *grin*

Here are the two images that I used to create this montage:

I tried to take the best elements of the two photos and combine them into one image.

If I had never seen these last two images, I never would have known. Awesome work.

Vevry cool cloning! You do great work!

Knowing from personal experience, this dog takes a lot from it's two children. Although it came from two pictures, I think that you were able to capture what the dog was really feeling as it "tolerated" the pure joy the little boy was having with him. Great job!

You have successfully combined two of the most commonly shared subjects on these forums - congrats on the very cute picture :D

Thanks for the kind words. I assume the two subjects you refer to are children and pets. I do find that photos that combine the two, bring me great joy.
