Well, I decided shortly after joining on how I was going to work my own voting/commenting process.

I go through and gut-vote. Wait a few days, go back and compare the gut-vote against a percentage type list I've made, then leave comments for the photos that I scored the very highest and the very lowest.

::shrug:: Works for me. I just don't have time to comment on EVERY one of 200+ photos. It took me nearly an hour to just vote!

As far as the comments I've received, so far they've been pretty helpful to me. I love to take photos, but don't intend for this to ever be anything more than just a hobby, so any creative advice I receive is appreciated.

edited for retarded spelling

would this have been good for the reflections challenge? i was out of town so didn't get to submit it..i would post this in diff forum, but this is only thread/forum i could load without error from this computer..

this is of a building in sienna, italy ... it is the reflection on the brick, not on a body of water:

It's a fine shot Nicholasp, I see now the reflection in the water. Sorry at first I just saw the shadow. Yes, I think that would of been very good. I like the black and white.

Hmm last week I had 4 comments overall. I'm not sure but I don't think that there is a connection to the increased number of submissions. I think in my case it was just the crappy photo ;-) This week seems a bit better as I already have 9 comments. The score (4.3 at the moment) is not so pleasing though.

I think it depends on the pic - most photos I really don't know, what to say - so I say nothing! And it depends on the challenge - the same, what to say... most reflections are great, that's it!
Until now, I got 9 comments, too... and enjoy reading them! Think, more will come the next days... I also start rating the pics and when I'm through, maybe there's time left to comment... or I just write spontaneous a word...
Think, thats the way it is - I'll never comment on every 248 photoos, no chance!

I have always found that the number of comments reflects, more or less, the relative success of my vote. In other words, the better the vote, the more the comments. Doesn't seem to be holding to that pattern this week. I have a pretty good score (so far) but only 5 comments from 140+ votes. Hmmmmm....
