The dimensions of this thing are crazy. Its gotta be at least 6 inches wide, 12 inches tall and about 12 inches deep off all bees. My Fiance found it in her front yard. Not even a hive. I guess its suppose to be solid full of bees all surrounding the Queen Bee. Happy with the shot too since it was getting dark when I took this...

certain bees will do this - some sort of mating thing. supposedly when they are congregating like that they are really tame. a bee guy told me you could go scoop them up in your hand and not get stung !

we had a carpet of them on our deck once. that's when i talked to the bee guy.

Wow, that's a lot of bees, and a very clear picture. Doubt my dinky little camera could take that kind of picture.

if you like honey -- check if there are any bee keepers around, they might be willing to make a deal.

Some info.

They did that to my neighbor's house a few years ago. The bee guy charged $100 to remove them, and then told me he wold sell them to a local bee keeper, so he got paid twice. He walked up with a garbage bag, got most of them in it, and tied it shut. He got the rest with a giant vacuum cleaner.

Cool link! And look! The site says, "Honey bee swarms...are one of the most beautiful and interesting phenomena in nature." Don't we have a current challenge topic that it fits? =p

If I were you, I'd still use it. Not everyone reads these forums... can you go and edit your first message and take the photo off?

A selective crop of that image might make a lovely, perhaps even beautiful, abstract....

Which one are you talking about? The right or the left?
