Visual Puns: we had an excellent example in "Scotch on the Rocks".

Rituals: daily, weekly, or annual...could be as simple as brushing your teeth to the family reunion or even Oktoberfest.

I agree with many before - lots of excellent ideas.
But please NO AUTUMN CHALLENGE! My home looked like this when I got up this morning. (6h before servertime)

Autumn was gone and winter had come. And I don´t like it at all.
But what the ... Life goes on and new things turn up to be photographed.
Thank God it´s a little bit warmer in the studio.

Cool picture !(sic) It is still about 70F here - Autumn isn't supposed
to arrive in Texas until mid to late November...

You are lucky. It´s really wet and cold here.
So you see how important it is to choose challenge-themes that can work all over the world. Because we can´t use our old shots.
I have another more difficult problem right now: I can´t decide which picture (of two totally different) to send in tomorrow. So it will be "a hard days night" (I read the thread about Beatles yesterday).
And it´s always my own decision because I don´t have anyone to ask for advice. Perhaps it´s best that way.

New Millenium: Take a photo that represent 'The New Millenium'. This could be the 21st century or beyond.

Carsten, I love this! I could swap some snow pics and stories with ya. Hubby and I spent 5 years deep in the Adirondack Forest...just about the center. Our nearest neighbor was 15 miles away and we drove 85 miles one way to the nearest city. A small city at that. (Glens Falls, NY)
To be honest, I miss it. The change of seasons was remarkable in many ways, and the solitude was divine.
Thanks for sharing that great picture. I love it. Where are you?

Well, I like it a lot too honestly. Spring and summer wouldn´t be what they are if there were no autumn and winter. Last week I got third with a picture that took me quite a while to take. The picture was taken far away on an island called Gotland here in Sweden. I went four hours by car, then 4 hours by boat, one hour by car again, took the picture and went all the way back home. Totally about 24 hours. For a picture in a challenge! All this just because I had decided to have this boat I knew were there.
Aren´t we crazy so say?
Now you understand that the picture of my snowy house is from the middle of Sweden. And we got about 25 centimeters of snow today. And it´s VERY early! And it´s also very late or early morning here, 02.40 in the morning and I MUST go to bed. God night everyone!

Here's a few ideas, sorry if they're duplicates, I didn't get a chance to read the whole thread.

Illusions
Deceive the viewer into thinking they're seeing something they are not.

Transparent
Your photo must include something transparent or semi-opaque.

Sound/Music
Represent sound or music with your photo, but do not include an musical instrument in your photo.

Clichés
"A picture is worth a thousand words" Pick your favourite, or least favourite cliché saying and capture it.

Headless
Photo a person, or group of people but do not include their heads.

Humour
Make your viewer laugh out loud, keep 'em above the belt.

That's it for now!

It was mentioned up there somewhere before, but I couldn't find it to quote it, but a challenge based on the color "blue." I know there was a "red" challenge, but literally hundreds have joined since then. Maybe set up a blue challenge the same way.

Another one -- The effect of man on nature, or vice versa. Take a picture that shows the effect people have made on the Earth, or man/woman struggling with nature. Or somethign like that!

Any of these ideas sound great, except for the no trees/buildings landscape. I have been looking, and it is virtually impossible for me to do one without a tree in it! Maybe I could create a world out of toothpicks or soemthing!

Fragile : inanimate/ animate objects, expressed mood literally or figuratively, juxtapose non fragile object in compromising position or circumstance, dreamscape interfering with harsh reality, softening the edge of trauma, etc,

Home: feeling of residence of peace, family atmosphere with/without human presence, tongue in cheek comparison of animal versus human habitat, different scales of home such as planet earth or cave ghosts or abandoned overgrown birdnests, all kinds of weird angles

How about High Contrast. Or just black and white as it accours naturally. mmmmm may need to wait a few months for the sun to come back out.

Mist. Haze. Smoke. Fog.(atmospheres of the mysterious or romantic type.)

Trophies.

Shoes.

I think we need a break from the vague descriptions and "open to interpretation" challenges.

I say pick an object and use that.

1. egg
2. hand
3. pear
4. shoe
5. spoon
6. mouth/nose/eye...
7. something that has to do with a person's face.
