I'm not sure what you're comparing it to. Assuming you get a good copy, it's very sharp at f/4 and above and tolerably sharp wide open. It's a bulky, heavy lens, though, and may or may not be the best choice for what you want to shoot in that zoom range.
Also, absolutely buy from some place that allows returns. If that special low-price deal doesn't allow a return, avoid it. It can take several tries to find a copy that isn't defective in some way (lousy sharpness, autofocus problems, back focused, etc.). |
