This is the picture I tried to digitally enhance by adding sunset and its reflection in the water. Kindly have a look at details and tell me what do u think honestly? Appreciate all your help along the learning process as you guys have always been of great help to me. Thank you :)

You are going to make me look like a total hypocrite, because I usually hate to encourge a lot of PS on DPC, but I also enjoy good "art" and I just can't take my eyes off this. The heightened surrealism and colors are spectacular. I would love to see this offered as a print. The little red bobbing thing in the water is my only nit-pik.

I agree with Kylie...I would clone out the red bouy and edited sun reflection on the water.

This is clearly a heavily edited image but, aside from that it is awesome. The colors jump off the screen. And the original scene is pretty in and of itself. The only thing I notice that bothers me is the perfect reflection of the sun in the water. Maybe I'm wrong but with that slightly choppy water, I don't think you would normally see any reflection, just the color graduation. Pickiness aside this is an Awesome image. Makes me want to get in photoshop and start playing around.

Thanks Kylie, ur words r encouraging me to try to fix some more picz which i don't wanna discard just coz sky is over exposed. I will clone out the red baloon thingy. Not sure if they approve prints for such ratios but I will give it a try. Thank you :)

I agree with your points. I did try lower saturation and blurring for the sun reflection but didn't appeal well to my eyes. So I left it this way for some balance in colors over all, although it does look unnatural than dreamy. Lemme see how it would look if I only erase sun reflection and the red baloon and leave the colors in reflection.

I think one of the reasons this one does work is that it is so entrenched in "fantasy", that it looks perfect to me with the sky refelected in the water in an unreal way. I think it gives it a superb balance and completeness that would be lacking if that part of the editing was taken out. Obviously just one personal opinion, but the overall balance right now is just really working for me. Almost a circle for the eyes to travel. I see quite a few other people are enjoying this also, so I guess I get to be a happy hypocrite today! lol

Ok, here is the version after editting per suggestions. I removed the sun reflection and the red baloon. Lets decide now which version looks better :) thanks

PS: Thought I would share another one coz I donno what do with the dark looking sky here? I like rest of the effects though. Any idea?

For me, it lost a lot without the sun reflection, but I already explained my feelings on that in one of my other posts. It is still quite beautiful.

Had you posted this B & W with colorized buildings before? I love this look and someone posted something like this recently.

Yes - I love that one. Another one that would make a good print. Where are these taken? I love the magical feel of a "miniature town".

These photographs were taken downtown St. John's, Newfoundland Canada. Its an awsome place and I have so many more pictures waiting to be uploaded. If interested, you can view some old albums from the same place at My Webshots Albums
Thank you so much :)

I am so envious!! I will check out your site.

Edit and FYI: Your website explodes with a bunch of pop-ups - my PC here at work doesn't block them. Too bad. :o(

Webshots offers free albums with a cap of 250 picz under one account. I have been making some free accounts there (all others mentioned on left hand side bar there) to share pictures with family. I have never had problem with popups and may be its 'coz of google's bar I have downloaded with add blockers in it. I am sorry to hear that though :(

That's why I wanted to let you know - in case you didn't realize. You could lose some audience if there are any folks out there not using pop-up blockers (like my workplace!).

Thank you Daniel for your kind words of encouragement. "visual poetry" was indeed inspired by Arnit's ribbon winning picture. Perhaps my eye shot would be looking much different if I didn't get the idea from Arnit's picture to clear the edges. Thank you Arnit :)

First shot = WOW!! (with red dot removal)
Second shot = WOW!!

I'm jealous, those are two amazing pieces!

hey here is my go at it...

I diffused the mountian tops because the transition was to sharp and looked unrealistic. I also changed the color balance so the mountians were a little red so they would match the sky (was to harsh a contrast) Then added fog in the mountians and in the water to add to the dreamlike feel of the scene (masked an area on new layer and then used cloud filter. Then played with opacity and erased areas to get my desired effect)

now that I look at it again I think I added to much fog in the mountians. Should have made it more subtle.

Just wondering but... DanSig, I notice you joined in January and the picture you highlight is from the Deja Vu challenge in December - did you realise that the theme of that challenge was to emulate what had come before? I know one can so easily misread tone in the written word on the net but I sensed an element of criticism at plagiarism in your post and wondered if you perhaps hadn't realised, but as I said, I may have completely misperceived things!

Here we go less fog in mountians and less red in the grass. I put to much in the other one too

Wow, now this looks better and more dreamy. I will give it a try for sure but don't know if I am skillful enough for it. Thank you :)

Guess this may already be clear but, I like it much better without the sun reflection and red floating thing.
