I can't believe this one ended 298th!!
I mean, what were all those comments about? You could really not see the triangles here? And there were so many of them!
The angle from of the motorcycle from the road, the so many triangles in the motorcycle body, in the trees....
This one should have been much much much higher!
So I guess that's just another victim of thinking outside the box.
So sad...

Unfortunately most of us artists won't be appreciated until well after we're dead :-P

I agree though, in my opinion it deserved a higher ranking. I especially like how to you tracked the motor bike, causing it to be in focus but the background speed-blurred.

Thank you Jinjit for the kind words. To answer one of the questionsin the comments yes I had intentions of using a moterbike as my triangle I had made a special trip to the races just for the triangle challenge.

Underrated? maybe a little, shoulda been in the low 5s

It is a very well done shot, the bike is clear while the track is motion blurred, the subject is sharp while the bg is oof, there is good color, the black frame is a little on the heavy side but works here because of the way it plays off the high contrast in the image. But the triangle connection is weak at best. There are triangles in it but they play a very minor part in the overall composition. I scored it high but took off a point for dnmc.

It's been a couple of years since I went to the drags but ... you said that you were "standing near the finish line" ... do the bikes do the entire quarter mile on one tire nowadays?

I donno. Personally I thought the triangle that the bike creates with the road is the main key in the image.
Aside for that, there are all the other triangles that are just "around". These I agree are minor.

I saw this and no triangles jumped out at me. I can guess what I think they are emphasizing but a clear picture should have an obvious subject, in this case, a triangle(s). A great shot aside fromt the challenge though.

I didn't vote but I don't really see the triangle very well, and certainly not in the trees. I would have done much better in a challenge more suited for it as it is a very nice capture indeed. I just feel it doesn't meet the challenge as well as many of the others.

I have been trying to figure out why people were not enthralled by my image, as I really like it, and the whole thing is pretty much just triangles. Maybe it does not catch the essence of "triangle".

"Details: Take a photograph where this basic shape is clearly shown as a key element. This may be a triangular object, or a group of items forming a triangle."

No but that would make for an interesting shot. Oops this one was taken near the start line. (corrected in description) I changed photos before the challenge and forgot to change the description. Everything else is still correct. Thanks coolhar for catching that.

For what it's worth I had guessed this would score a 5.5 or so. So i'm not real disapointed.

I love the shot, I'm with everyone else that thinks it should have scored higher than it did. I don't think it is hard to see the triangle at all.
