People often ask me why I still work at a movie theatre and get treated like crap from customers. Tonight is what I answer to them. I got to screen Star Wars Episode III tonight a full night early, enough to make any geek jealous. It is a great movie and I recomend everyone to see it if you are a star wars fan. Definately the best of the recent movies...
P.S. Chewbacca is the man!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Despite the fact that everyone knows the end, it still leaves you with questions for 7,8,9, which is all just a big tease because lucas claims he isn't gonna do them. Which we all know is a big lie, but he better hurry up and make crappy remakes of 1,2,3 so he can get to shooting for 7,8,9. At least he isn't like spielberg and change the guns to walkie-talkies in his remakes.

Wohoooooooooo!
Man that movie was cool!!!! I had so much fun watching it, and my heart beat really fast all the time. It was very exciting, even though you basically already know ohw it ends.
And this time, Georgy didn't get lost in all his special effects, but put them to good use: they are there to make the story move along, not for the sake of being there (like the gladiator scenes on Geonosis in EPII).
Oh yeah, and I saw it 13 hours ago. It's great living in Luxembourg :)

| I just can't wait to see the movie, I have tickets for this Sunday. For the premiere I couldn't find tickets because all of them have been booked in advance. So I'll have to wait a few more days. |

Urm - the plot was published in about 1977... You think that people would have avoided it for almost 30 years and get it spoiled here ? :)

There are, in fact, some little surprises in the movie. The main plot should be known to everyone by now, but I had some moments where my jaw dropped, and I've been a fan for ten years now.
Make sure you watch in corners and in those parts of the frame where there is a lot of movement and detail, you'll see some cameos and old friends (yeah they may be old, but they still get 12 parsec ;).
Has anyone else seen the movie yet? I'd like to know how you liked it. And, like blemt said: no spoilers!

yes, I saw the movie on the 7th at a media event. It was a fantastic movie. Lucas was able to put emotion into this one that was missing in the last two. I don't think the audience was very good when I went, a bunch of old media folks, so I am really looking forward to the excitement of the midnight showing tonight. I would say that this movie is by far the best of the new series, there are some surprises and it was a lot of fun.

Excuse my grammar. I just got home from a 12:10am (yes, that's 10 minutes after midnight) screening and I'm tired.
For those of you who don't know, I am a director, producer, and self-proclaimed filmaniac/cinephile/filmfreak/etc; so basically, film (of the motion type) is my thing, and I'm very critical of every cinematic work...
(spoilers)
I thought Eps 1 and 2 were downright horrible- Loosely written, no- make that terribly written, and the like.
Lucas has redeemed himself with Ep. 3. Although the dialogue gets a bit frustrating once in a while, the film is absolutely stunning. Visual effects were breathtaking and clean. The story was outstanding. For the first time in the three recent films, you could actually feel the pain of a character- after Kenobi cuts the legs off Anakin, and he's laying on the burning ground, Kenobi screams, "You were the chosen one!" (line from the trailer). It was enough to give that spine chill- something star wars has never done to me.
Also, I feel almost bad for the people that missed out on a late screening tonight... The energy from the packed auditorium was contagious. Starting with one hour before showtime, someone would yell out the remaining time 'til start and the whole audience would insanely cheer. But it was nothing compared to the longest and loudest cheering that came right as the classic "Star Wars" text was shown.
Anyway, Ep. 3 takes it back to the original space opera feel, along with the former glory of the name.
Just for kicks- my 1-10 ratings of all the films
Phantom Menace 4/10
Attack of the Clones 5/10
Revenge of the Sith 9.5/10
A New Hope 9/10
Empire Strikes Back 10/10
Return of the Jedi 8.5/10
And just so you can get an idea of the extent of people who may enjoy Revenge, my top ten films are 1)American Beauty, 2)Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, 3)Garden State, 4)Mulholland Dr., 5)Sin City, 6)Dogville, 7)Donnie Darko, 8)Lost In Translation, 9)Magnolia, 10)City of God. |

Didn't off him, but he never had a spoken line and was only shown twice. (YES!!!)

Strange things are a foot at the circle K (DPC) the light sabres on the members and the regular member icon looks chubby?

I second that. The atmosphere was really amazing. The audience roaned when the 20th century Fox logo came up. The audience cheered when the Lucasfilm logo appeared. And the audience screamed when the scrolling text slowly crumbled up the screen. I still get a shiver down my spine every single time I hear that monumental main theme. And the best thing is, I already know it's coming. And I couldn't help it, I had a big grin all over my face.
To those who are interested in the story between Episode II and III, check out the Clone Wars. They're interesting short animated comics, sometimes really funny and they give you a good idea on how the relationship between Anakin and Obiwan evolves.

I agree with thewriterside that the script of EpIII was much better than that of Ep I & II. The dialogues seem flat at some moments ("Anakin, you're breaking my heart.") but it's really good at other times ("I'm not the Jedi I should be." and the last dialogue between Anakin and Obi-Wan: Anakin: "I hate you!" Obi-Wan: "You were like my brother. I loved you!"). That were some of the moments which brought back into Star Wars what I call "The Magic".

I love how everyone agrees that The Empire Strikes Back was their favorite. That is a classic drama... That scene when Luke discovers Vader is his father, the disbelief, wow. It's also very "Noir". Revenge of the Sith actually comes very close to that... Of course we knew what was going to happened but actually seing it the way it was showed... I'm a happy customer!
Did it bother anyone that R2-D2 can be lunched off the ships and land on his feet, yet later on (in the first movie) He lost that hability to do so? In the first three, he had to be hauled in and out.

| He was ejected by the spacecraft....you'll also note that quite a few features R2D2 has in the prequels are no longer available to him in the sequels. a.k.a. jets. As for landing, he is an astromech and he does have some magnetic traction ability. Perhaps such can also be used as a repulser to a degree. But i didn't find this one a challenge to swallow. |

I like the shot when Obi Wan throws him something and a little arm comes out and grabs it... I'm just saying he has far more dexterity in this movie than any other.

Hayden Christensen ruined it for me. I liked it very well, but the dialog and plot around Anakin was just too weak. The character didn't explain his irrationalities, mainly because of poor acting.
Otherwise, Yoda is the bomb. I love seeing that guy fight. And the effects were great! R2D2 has quite a lot of features he didn't have later, which kinda ruins the plot, but it's a cool and humoristic addition to the film.
As a musician too, I'd have to say that John Williams' music for Star Wars is possibly the best film music ever made.

That's very true. They were even a major improvement over the graphics in Clones. I heard they used new high-powered AMD backed systems this time.
