Amy what do you want to do with it? Is it only for photos, or photos plus blog/journal, or much more than that?
I expect the experts will want to know your intentions.

To simply build a gallery for your pictures you can use Jalbum, it's a very neat and Free (!) tool.

To build a site, you'll eventually need some HTML knowledge, so I'd start there.

Who's your ISP? Most of the Major ISPs that provide 10MB or so also provide Trellix Site builder which is pretty easy...your not going to make anything fancy with one of those.

If you don't have a web host I might start with that 30Mb free over at spaces.msn.com (there's a thread here about it somewhere).

If your are going to build a site then you gotz to know the backend and what scripts their running etc... Windows/ASP/MediaPlayer Streaming .net or Linux/PhP/RealAudio. Templates are freely avalible for most platforms...

What's Jalbum? I went to www.jalbum.com and... well it's not what you were talking about (nor was it in English).

I registered my site through //www.123cheapdomains.com then I did the hosting through godaddy.com. I saw an option for blogging and for photo albums, but I, personally didn't use them (although the package I picked came with it). I just designed the site myself in windows Notepad -- I have very limited HTML knowledge too...just what I remember from 5 years ago from a class I took in college.

That is a very simple quetion without a simple answer...
your ISP (whomever you get internet access thru) almost alwyas give you space. Some have templates to help you make a simple website.

you can buy a web name (like //www.dpcallenge.com) lots of places - see //www.godaddy.com

the above godaddy can provide space, perhaps templates?

search on 'free web hosting' and see what you get.

You can learn HTML and make a website in Notepad. Almost all windows programs will publish HTML pages (Word and excel will).

then there are the photo sites - i use DPC here of course, and //www.fotopic.net (free)

Try going here. I use it on my website also. You can download it then you can also download other skins as well. I use the simpleviewer skin on my website (still undergoing changes). It's very user friendly. :-)

//jalbum.net/ :)

in 40 words, it's a program that inputs an directory of images, and outputs *full* html code for an image-gallery (yes, I am a programmer :)
It is customizable to the extent that every user of it can have a different-looking gallery.

you can use picasa's instant web-export.
//www.picasa.com/index.php?tid=Y2NpZD0zNzY3.
1,2,3 click's - BAM - a web page with your selected photos presented in a simple gallery.

jenesis, I actually counted twice to make sure I ain't gonna be caught with a counting disability :)

Oh my God, so funny, I did too. Guess I'm just as lame and lifeless??????? hehehe :-)

My son uses a site called myspace.com for his band's website, I've checked his out and looks pretty cool, and he says it's free and easy.

I'm assuming you're a Windows user. If not, here's mac.com's homepage video.

Hi Amy, Did you check out the Jalbum link? I think, and you'll have to investigate this further, that once you create your album (easy, even I could do it) :-) that there is an option that can link you to a site to post your page at. I say you'll have to investigate this because I already had webspace so I didn't need to use that option but I believe it's there... maybe somebody who has used that option can chime in here.

if you are just looking strictly for a photo gallery site - maybe you'd want to check into //www.pbase.com ... it's $25 a year ... for a pretty decent amount of space ... and //www.Yahoo.com domains are having a sale for 4.98 a year right now and that includes forwarding .... all you need to do is create a yahoo account name just for the forwarding purpose i think ...

i used yahoo domains and got //www.creativeflyphoto.com and that forwards to my dcprints.com page ...

just a suggestion

my pbase site is //www.pbase.com/photosbyayme ... if you want to take a look to see how it looks and works
